Every year we get this "average renewal" rubbish. These horses are just turned three – give them a chance! I happen to think that in CH, Seville, Carlton House and Pour Moi there is plenty of quality.
Not sure how many Derby’s you can recall but I can remember about 40 and it actually is rubbish to suggest that the race is knocked every year. This year there is a paucity of top-class two-year-olds, impressive Trial winners and Group winners in the field. At this stage you can only pass judgement on what they have achieved so far and on that basis it does look a very average renewal. Frankel aside, the three-year-olds don’t look so good and it could easily be that the Greenham runner-up is in fact the second best.
May 31, 2011 at 17:00 #358069I am about 5 behind you Stilvi and, sorry, but it absolutely does
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
May 31, 2011 at 17:58 #358072I won’t be surprised if Carlton House does not run.You must not take the chance of further damage,by racing so soon after the injury, with a valuable horse like that. There is no such thing as a "minor problem" with a horse’s legs. However I do trust Stouty to know what he is doing.
May 31, 2011 at 19:30 #358076Can Stoutey spoof the market for the 2nd time in 10 days?
May 31, 2011 at 21:09 #358086Fallon bad boy back with Coolmore….Murtagh ex-Coolmore knows how they operate, new kid on the block riding for Fabre, all adds up to an interesting farce. Can’t wait!
May 31, 2011 at 21:17 #358088I have a suspicion Seville may be the best of Aidan’s clutch, but did you see Pour Moi take off on that RP video!
June 1, 2011 at 11:51 #358166I have the impression the Derby and Oaks could be well above average this year. I wonder. I also wonder if Wonder of Wonders might have had a shot in the Derby. I wonder.
June 1, 2011 at 17:53 #358242Is a swelling in the foot or hoof a reason to withdraw a horse from the Derby or will the ownership influence to decision? Will something happen going around the slanted corner and running on a tilted course? What if the horse breaks down then the decision to run him reminds me of the one that Aidan made, that Fallon had the vets look at at the start and the horse broke down.
June 1, 2011 at 20:20 #358267it will now take something quite extra-ordinary for Recital to somehow not win this race
June 1, 2011 at 21:24 #358279Latest statement from Warren re Carlton House circa 9pm on Wed 1st:
"Will not run if problem has not cooled itself down". Decison on Friday.
Looking a little less positive by the day…statement seems to suggest the problem is still there to some extent.June 1, 2011 at 21:27 #358281Even if it does run…what sort of prep is that for a race you have to 100% rippling fit for

God I hope you’re right.

Recital has to win the battle with his mind first before winning the battle of the Epsom Derby.
at 5/1 he’s a shocking price, a below par animal who will be the only Derby winner I can remember who has been beaten by a filly.
June 2, 2011 at 06:59 #358332Charlton House in from 5.5 to 3.8 this morning.
Has he been out this morning?
June 2, 2011 at 08:20 #358339me too Zark lol, big bet for me, you’ve got the big prices i think
gl usre CH
CARLTON HOUSE’S connections were left looking happy enough after the ante-post Derby favourite completed an easy four-furlong workout on Thursday morning.
The news comes following an eventful morning on the exchanges with Carlton House drifting out to 9-2 (5.5) before being supported into 11-4 (3.75) and then settling at 7-2 (4.4) at 9am.
June 2, 2011 at 10:35 #358365I’d be very surprised if Carlton House doesn’t turn up, and if anything he did to himself was serious and he was sore/slightly unlevel or uneven, he wouldn’t have been cantered today. End of.
That said i think Native Khan could be worth a look?
June 2, 2011 at 13:24 #358401Was just about to price Native Khan up, Emmy. Nice ew bet imo.
