Kieran, if you could ride any horse in the derby who would it be?
"Midas Touch"
Sows how much Fallon knows

Maybe he’s not as daft as you think, thm?
Even after Cape Blanco had won the Dante, they were saying MT was at least his equal, also reported to have improved appreciably since then. It may also be significant that SNA’s ‘injury’ never surfaced until after he was turned over in a gallop with MT, either.
No surprise at all should Midas Touch finish in front of Jan Vermeer, at least.Workforce, Bullet Train and now Midas Touch to beat Jan Vermeer. Anything else?
Am I correct in assuming you missed the big prices on the favourite?

Stilvi
Don’t bet ante-post, don’t rate Jan Vermeer, and unlikely to have a bet in the race at all.
Am I correct in assuming that you never post anything constructive?June 4, 2010 at 18:24 #298637If you could find a horse with blood links to this lot it should have a great chance:-
Sadlers Wells, Dancing Brave, Lyphard, Mill Reef, Native Dancer, Northern Dancer, Never Say Die, Hyperion, Busted
Or:-
Mill Reef, Darshaan, Shirley Heights, Galilieo, Urban Sea, Sir ivor, Native Dancer, Sadlers Wells, Lyphard, Northern Dancer
Which one would you choose?
June 4, 2010 at 18:24 #298638Why am i warming to Midas Touch?
June 4, 2010 at 18:56 #298642Or Midast Ouch, as I now think of him, thanks to Mr Wilson.

Stan James went 40-1 tonight, on the one above – not for long had them!!! Lay some off tomorrow will be a lot shorter.
Or:-
Mill Reef, Darshaan, Shirley Heights, Galilieo, Urban Sea, Sir ivor, Native Dancer, Sadlers Wells, Lyphard, Northern Dancer
So whose this?
June 4, 2010 at 19:51 #298657Well, this last one is too easy. Galileo gives it away.
June 4, 2010 at 21:07 #298668Well Gerald if you go on breeding its between Midas and Ted who???
Interesting to see the outcome.
June 4, 2010 at 21:59 #298674Quick look at the Betfair Forum and its going wild that Jan Vermeer has had his foot in a icebucket the whole day and that is why he is drifting.
June 4, 2010 at 23:01 #298687Since last August this was the day i was looking forward to the most sadly SNA is out.My tip is Jan Vermeer
June 4, 2010 at 23:03 #298688Talking about fantatsic breeding, how about Dalghar, a full brother to Daylami and Dalkhani, running tomorrow in France, but entered also in the Queen Anne.
It was recently available at 140/1 on Betfair for the QA. Its form has not been spectacular, but I don’t expect it’s been rushed.
It appears to be quoted at odds on in Betfair, though as second favourite!

Half-brother actually (and Daylami and Dalakhani weren’t full brothers either). Also, wrong forum.
THE DERBY:
So often, the derby winner is a horse who doesn’t just have the ability (clearly, several of these colts do), but is peaking at the right time. To me, 7 horses seem to have the potential: Al Zir, Azmeel, Bullet T, Johannes V, Midas T, Rewilding & Workforce.I don’t feel that either of the Juddmonte horses is peaking well (I recall both trainers sounding lukewarm about running them after their respective trials). I also don’t think that JV is peaking; he was an uncertain runner for a long time, and various mild injuries/setbacks have been mentioned suggesting that his prep has not been particularly smooth. Of course, an outstanding colt will overcome a jagged prep and triumph anyway, but it seems unlikely that JV is one of those. I haven’t really gotten a read on Al Zir.
To me, Midas T, Rewilding and Azmeel all seem like they might be hitting Epsom tomorrow at the right time.
June 5, 2010 at 07:02 #298700The worst thing about this years Derby will be Claire Balding shouting down her microphone at the end of it. Wouldn’t mind but it is hardly an attractive voice.
Please someone tell her she doesn’t need to shout into a microphone.
The value bet has to be Ted Spread. Very well bred gets the distance and lets hope they put on plenty of water. Thunderstorm would be good around 2.00pm!
40-1 ratio bet 10:1 is what i’ve done.
June 5, 2010 at 07:34 #298703Ted Spread. Very well bred
Very well bred if you want to win the Champion Hurdle.
Value Is EverythingJune 5, 2010 at 07:40 #298704Can’t understand why some people are saying this is an open Derby. In my opinion Jan Vermeer, Workforce and Rewilding have a 64% chance between them (not 51.8% as you can get backing all three). Buzzword and Coordinated Cut look the value outsiders, could run in to a place.
Value Is EverythingJune 5, 2010 at 09:07 #2987121. Rewilding
2. Al Zir
3. AzmeelWould love Bullet Train to win, but have a feeling Mr Cecil will get unlucky again.
June 5, 2010 at 09:20 #298715I cannot work out the ground as yet but reckon my bets will be…
Gd-Fm (today again)
Azmeel 12-1 and Al Zir 18-1
Good Ground
Co-ordinated Cut 25-1 and Al Zir at 18-1
