I’ve got love in my tummyedit: I’ve got the lyrics wrong, or should that be I got the lyrics wrong?
I got love in my tummyMarch 5, 2010 at 19:42 #280686Good grief! 3 Japanese entries. Someone’s been doing some marketing.
March 5, 2010 at 19:46 #280687Ha Gerald.
Plenty of entries to go through. Any idea the best of British(without Godolphin)
March 5, 2010 at 19:52 #280689Haven’t looked at the race since the New Year. Zarkava’s your man, and maybe Darren if he doesn’t just concentrate on the Irish ones.
Workforce, but he’ll have to get supplemented later.
March 5, 2010 at 20:58 #280704Hadn’t look at this entry stage before. There weren’t supplements, so the Japanese horses were all entered as yearlings. The only horse that was unnamed a couple of months ago that has stood its ground is the now named
Dibir
. As it is by Shamardal out of a Linamix mare, trained by Rouget, and owner-bred by the Aga Khan, it would be nice if someone forewarns us of when he makes his debut, so we can follow his progress.
Horses with a RPR of 100+, who either weren’t entered in the first place and would need to be supplemented, or have been withdrawn at this stage are:-
Kingsfort
Passion For Gold
Pounced
Vale Of York
Elusive Pimpernel
Poet’s Voice
Alfred Nobel
Air Chief Marshall
Termagant
Al Zir
Dancing David
Lucky General
Eightfold Path
Zeitoper
Al GhazalQuite a few miler-types amongst that lot though.
Now to do a count of how many horses I still need to do the pedigree details of, having given up having to do 400 or so horses a couple of months ago . . .
March 5, 2010 at 21:29 #280716Okay, I’ve already got the pedigree details for the Derby entries that had a RPR of 90+ at the end of the Flat season. (32 horses)
The first thing I’m going to do is very dodgy. I’m going to chuck all the horses with a dam’s Genetic Strength Value of less than 68. (Now left with 16 horses.) This is dodgy for a couple of reasons. First of all the values are as of 2005, so they are a bit out-of-date, and the author has changed his methodology in the meantime as well. Also, I don’t know to what extent the figures for past Derby winners have been backformed, in that "Oh he/she bred a Derby winner, so we’ll bump up their gentic values".
I’m eager to use this measure though as it dumps St Nicholas Abbey, which is great fun! It also gets rid of Joshua Tree, Chabal, Cape Blanco, Azmeel and Jan Vermeer! The other major measure I’m going to use is to dump all the horses with a combined sire and damsire Stamina Index of less than 19f. (This would have eliminated Sea The Stars last year, but in other years it tends to be okay.)
The final measure only gets rid of one horse: those with more than 1 more Speed than Stamina points on the Conduit Mare profile figures.
Left with
314 Midas Touch
134616 Beethoven
12 Fencing Master
10 Coordinated Cut
12 Anhar
31128 Viscount Nelson
2215 Morana
81 MultamesBedtime. Will go through that 8 tomorrow evening.
March 5, 2010 at 21:52 #280721Suprised Nebula Storm not in entries as looked a smart horse on 2nd start.
Wallace as you know i am the biggest fan of ST Nicholas Abbey i can’t see any horse beating him.Unless he does not handle fast ground or Epsom course he will not get beat.
March 5, 2010 at 22:00 #280724Yes where is Nebula Storm?
Must have met with a setback….without a doubt.
That Aga Khan horse Oxx entered has no chance….could be a St Leger horse….too slow to win any race unless over marathon trips

I heard Nebula Storm pulled up lame after the Leopardstown maiden. Not sure if that’s the reason he’s not entered up.
Oxx definitely has no star among the Classic generation this year. Behtarini is an Alandi/Kastoria/Mourayan type alright. Triumph Hurdle 2011?!
Anyone know if Arazan will be back in training as a 4yo?
March 5, 2010 at 22:46 #280739Yup according to Oxx he was back next year.
Its going to be a very surreal year on the Flat in 2010 i think
March 5, 2010 at 22:57 #280744Back to the Coolmore/Ballydoyle domination of 2008 methinks. What price Aidan for the 5 classics at the Curragh?
March 6, 2010 at 06:51 #280775Fencing Master
for me. Dewhurst run shows that he has plenty of class. He is physically impressive and has loads of scope. Plenty of stamina on the dam side and his sire Oratorio saw out 10f really well and should give a degree of stamina to his progeny.
So all in all we have a classy, scopey, likely stayer trained by AoB @ 25/1+. That’ll do for me.
March 6, 2010 at 12:27 #280814Ballydoyle have 106 2 yr olds this year…and something like 65 3 yr olds.
70 Colts and 36 Fillies….
That is mind boggling
March 7, 2010 at 21:47 #281044Hi – some interesting stuff here – can’t wait ’till the flat is back!
Quite liked the run of Fencing Master from the Dewhurst myself…
Just for your info there was a report on friday 5th Mar on the post about how Mendizabal missed out on a five-timer at Deauville.
One of the winners was ‘Dibir’ – here he is and part of the report:
http://www.zeturf.com/en/resultats/1582 … acqueville
FRENCH champion trainer Jean-Claude Rouget landed a five-timer on the all-weather at Deauville on Friday
The most impressive Rouget winner was the Aga Khan’s Dibir, who opened his account in style over 7½f in a three-year-old maiden event. He has been entered in both the Poule d’Essai des Poulains and Prix du Jockey-Club.
March 7, 2010 at 21:59 #281051Damn, just checked the date and time of my post mentioning Dibir. I thought I had tipped my first winner of the Flat season, and instead I’ve aftertimed my first winner of the Flat season!
March 7, 2010 at 22:55 #281066Been through the trends and utterly depressed and deflated. Just 5.
Ameer
Emirates Dream
Jan Vermeer
St Nicholas Abbey (kind of)
WaseetAnd to be honest if any of those bar the Ballydoyle pair are good enough then I’ll be very surprised. Pair of blinkers might sort out Emirates Dream.
Race is as good as over in my eyes. If he goes for the Dante (and presumably wins), St. Nick should go off around 1/2 and to be honest he’d still be value.
