John Gosden’s classy filly has sadly died while foaling.
April 18, 2015 at 21:47 #895409Oh that’s terribly sad.
April 23, 2015 at 19:43 #905874Sad to read this, she was a tough filly with a lot of ability, her race in the Falmouth against Sky Lantern was memorable. She was well campaigned by Gosden who picked up plenty of prize money along the way in the uk and France.
RIP Elusive Kate..Charles Darwin to conquer the World
April 30, 2015 at 14:48 #930398Only just picked this up and strange that I was thinking about her this morning when browsing the 1000 Guineas field.
She was such a tough filly almost like a colt and she gave 100% in every race she ran.
I saw her 4 times at Newmarket firstly when she ran second to the french filly Siyouma in the Sun Chariot and would definitely have won it but for stumbling badly, she came back to the winners enclosure with green legs that day and you could see how badly her stumble had cost her but she fought on bravely.
She then ran second to another French filly Giofra before beating Sky Lantern in the Falmouth and the last time I saw her was when Sky Lantern beat her in the Sun Chariot in her last year on the racecourse, no one could deny she was a tough little cookie.
RIP dear Elusive Kate :(
Is there any news on her foal?Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 30, 2015 at 20:52 #930617There was a photo of him in TRP…seemed to be doing well. I get really choked up when I hear of a mare dying when foaling; something that should be so joyous [is there anything more wonderful than seeing a mare with her newborn [?] turning to sadness so quickly]. It was hearing of Urban Seas demise with her next foal that made me so obsessed with Sea the Stars.
May 1, 2015 at 22:11 #931513Me too Moe I’ll be looking out for this little one and hope they treasure him/her.
Couldn’t get hold of the RP, any idea who the sire is and if the foal is a filly or a colt?
I just feel so sad that Elusive Kate didn’t make it as a broodmare, poor girl.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 2, 2015 at 12:39 #933457It’s a colt foal by Dansili. Blowed if I can remember for sure where I saw the photo of him, though.
May 2, 2015 at 19:43 #933827The photo is on Twitter, I wish I knew how to get a copy onto here for you Triptych. He’s a lovely little bay chap with a larger blaze than his dam and two quite long white socks behind. It looks as if he has been fostered by a grey cob mare!
May 4, 2015 at 15:06 #936837Thank you Moe and Luddite, I can look out for him now and hope he’s as successful as his mum, by your description he’s going to be a looker. It brought a tear to my eyes she was such a lovely mare I’m sure he will be a credit to her.
I’ll try to get on Twitter and find the photo Luddite thank you for pointing me in right direction.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out... - AuthorPosts
