sadly died at towcester on 10th january
RIP Ellie Wiggins
January 14, 2011 at 16:34 #335834The way poor Ellie Wiggins just started to wobble and stumble as she tried to slow down and then fell through the railings and down the little hill, it looked to me like she was suffering a heart attck and just could not stop herself and ended up catapulting down a little hill/ditch and you could see her lying on the ground with all her legs kicking. It was heartbreaking to watch and that sight will stay with me for quite a while.. R.I.P you beautiful spirit
January 14, 2011 at 21:02 #335876Yes I agree it did look like she may have suffered a heart attack and began to panic, what an awful thing to happen to her. Condolonces to all her connections.
March 17, 2011 at 08:40 #345638Terrible thing to see, such a shame for connections. RIP Ellie.
Does anyone know if Pure Anticipation was okay after her fall in the 1.25 same day? Looked to me like she might have injured a shoulder, but no mention made by either ATR or RP subsequently.
Sorry not to ask earlier, but have only recently found the website.
March 17, 2011 at 17:39 #345773I assume she was ok because the following quote comes from Tim Vaughan’s blog for that date
"The meeting actually started on a slightly disappointing note when Pure Anticipation fell when challenging at the fourth last in the opening 3 mile novice hurdle. It was too early to say "PA" would have won, but she would have been in the shake up without a doubt and I am sure she can win a similar contest in due course. She is a nice progressive mare and might be one for the EBF Mares Final later in the season and to see if we can secure valuable black type with her"
I don’t know if anything’s changed since that date, but she’s still listed on his website as one of his horses in training so fingers crossed.
