Just to start the thread, I like the look of Flower of Scotland.
Cant help but think, with his proven stamina will run a good race.
Major Dundee and Highland Hunter look possible choices.
Will look closer to the day..February 7, 2024 at 22:03 #1680290I’d be looking at Highland Hunter as well. Except the horse is more fragile than an eggshell made of snowflakes.
Animal another one id give a chance to.
I do love a staying chase!
February 10, 2024 at 02:38 #1680581Definitely Flower of Scotland for me at 33’s. Had initially bet him for Haydock, but his entry here (which I prefer for him), led to a rethink. If he doesn’t declare on Monday, for National Trial at Haydock, I’ll bet him.
History of Fashion, and Christopher Wood also make some appeal right now
Flower of Scotland
February 11, 2024 at 11:57 #1680830My only worry with Flower is I just wonder if the Scot Nat is the actual target , the owner is well known for wanting his horses targeted at the meeting
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 15, 2024 at 15:13 #1681145I thought that Tommie Beau shaped as if still in decent form last time. I’ve bet him early at 16-1
February 18, 2024 at 16:35 #1681622It’s definitely Guetapan Collonges for me. I’m a little surprised though to see him as short as 6-1. I don’t think that I’ll have a bet on him until he is confirmed, but I’ll be sure to throw a few pounds his way
February 19, 2024 at 01:27 #1681682Still no bet here for me, and doubt I’ll have one till final decs, unless Flower of Scotland stands his ground, is jocked up, and hold his price.
Spoon’s shout for Tommie Beau is an interesting one too, and keeping an eye on him, with FOS and History of Fashion
February 20, 2024 at 16:19 #1681849I see Flower of Scotland is now jocked up, 16/1 for a nibble. May have a silly double with the egg chasers on the day.
February 22, 2024 at 17:48 #1682094Well it’s a far cry from the 33’s when I was going to bet him, but took the opening 10’s for Flower of Scotland
Tommie Beau and Christopher Wood both interesting, but just the one here……
………unless I cover Easy Bucks. Interesting recruit to the Bowen yard, and there’s surely a target in the spring for them
Flower of Scotland 10’s
February 22, 2024 at 19:38 #1682145I think I scored with FOS @16’s, So ill add Major Dundee as a second on the day, 10s now, but the market is fluid and could go either way.
February 23, 2024 at 14:24 #1682242The Galloping Bear is back to his winning mark and has conditions to suit. Rath An Luir is one of those I never seem to catch right, and he’s probably done his winning for this season, but I’ll kick myself if I abandon him and he is on a going day.
They’ll be my two.
February 23, 2024 at 19:39 #1682280My pin has landed on Tommy Beau ew 5 places
February 23, 2024 at 19:57 #1682285On a quiet day of racing in happy to have two goes , I still think Flower of Scotland bigger target maybe the Scot Nat but Sandy is flying so I’ll play , at bigger Christopher wood last time did show he should stay so as he’s normally on the premises I’ll play e.W
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 23, 2024 at 20:01 #1682287Playing a double of Fenland Tiger and Secret Squirrel at Kempton.
Massive doubts about the trip but he’s well weighted and seems to love a battle. I also really like the stable.
February 24, 2024 at 09:42 #1682368Fenland Tiger for me. Stayed on strongly here at Newcatle in heavy conditions. Let’s hope he can do that over 4 miles as well.
Fenland Tiger 6/1
February 24, 2024 at 10:48 #1682389The market seems to have assumed the up and comers will enjoy this and they might do, but I’d rather go for some tried and trusted ones.
Tommie Beau maybe doesn’t have the class for this but I’m fairly certain he’ll stay and probably arrives in the form of his life, no mean feat trying to give Dom Of Mary 21lbs last time and but for that one he’d be arriving on a ‘National’ 3 timer.
The Galloping Bear needs some forgiving and its a bit concerning he’s had two recent non-completions and recent wind surgery but one of them was a seasonal debut in the Welsh National which surely wasn’t the plan, suggests to me they were struggling to get him out beforehand and this season hasn’t been easy for them. I don’t think he really needs forgiving the Veterans Chase final effort just 2 weeks later over an inadequate trip. If he’s on his A game he’s got a lot in his favour and the handicapper has been very generous giving 5lbs back too.
February 24, 2024 at 10:58 #1682393Christopher Wood 12-1 and Easy Bucks 66-1 each way are my calls here. These are afterthoughts really as I just wanted to bet Guetapan
