Not sure what to make of that, finished in a bit of a heap and Lord North so close makes me think it is not very top class form – Mishriff unlucky at an important stage of the race but then you could say it was wishful thinking trying for that run.
July 2, 2022 at 15:44 #1605006Soumillon does a Crowley just after the line, bit dangerous. Lovely horse.
July 2, 2022 at 15:46 #1605007I wish I had done the forecast now! But a good result.
Agree with Glad. How could Bay Bridge (never won a Group 1) be favourite, especially giving weight to a top class 3 year old? This time last year he was running in handicaps.
July 2, 2022 at 15:47 #1605008Winner travelled best and deserved the win.
Mishriff wasn’t unlucky. Egan waited for a gap which didn’t appear. If he’d switched earlier he might have had a chance but I wouldn’t say he was unlucky.
July 2, 2022 at 15:47 #1605009Well that was a battle royale and a half. But poor Mishriff!
July 2, 2022 at 15:47 #1605010There was a gap for Mishriff before it closed at first glance on the head on but he was too rusty to get through it after the absence. Good Juddmonte trial though.
July 2, 2022 at 15:47 #1605011I didn’t think the ride was brilliant on the winner myself, thought they were both a fair bit better than Native Trail and Lord North.
Native Trails stayed fine, not sure hes run any better than he did at a mile but does at least give them options going forwards for him. Lord North 124 at his peak, can’t realistically credit him with more than that at 6 but as I say first two a lot better than the margins. Wouldn’t be wild about prospect of Vadeni on a heavy ground Arc personally if it came that way.
July 2, 2022 at 15:49 #1605012Well done winners, but Mishriff oh so unlucky.
Value Is EverythingJuly 2, 2022 at 15:50 #1605013Run the race again, you possibly get a different result….And what was Soumillon doing just after the line?
July 2, 2022 at 15:51 #1605014Last to first off that pace was impressive from the French horse. And jockey said he stumbled last 100 yards and almost blew it but the horse recovered the last 50 and kept going.

July 2, 2022 at 15:58 #1605016I did think at first watch that the winner went too soon. I suspect if Soumillon had held on to Vadeni a bit longer he would have been more impressive.
I still don’t see the gap for Mishriff.
July 2, 2022 at 16:00 #1605017We all see a different race.
I actually had a saver on the winner – who as previously stated I’ve got 8/1 for the Arc about – but I wanted Mishriff for so much more.
It was a great race – time was 1.8 seconds fast and that’s excellent to see.
Andrew Cooper has done an excellent job at this meeting IMO.

July 2, 2022 at 16:07 #1605019lord north probably would’ve won his last race without the blindfold mishap based on that
July 2, 2022 at 16:09 #1605021Bay Bridge must be considered best on an easy surface now, seemed as though he was feeling it.
Alenquer seems best with a stronger pace (although it wasn’t that slow) but essentially would’ve struggled against the winner and second even at his best.
Lord North ran a cracker, that’s how good he is.
Native Trail looks equally effective at a mile to a mile two, but others have improved past him this year.
Mishriff should’ve won with luck in running and will be a good opponent for Baaeed at York.
Vadeni showed his french form no fluke. Am even more positive now about him being even better at 12f. Coming from last to first but helped by others not having the best ways through.
Value Is EverythingJuly 2, 2022 at 16:10 #1605022“I went for a gap that was never there so in the end I had to switch round the entire field. He would have won if I’d simply taken him wide in the first place.”
Said no jockey ever.
