6 year old horse died after breaking his leg following routine surgery. Appears to have had surgery that doesn’t seem to have been strictly necessary, but they went with the vet’s recommendation. At least that’s the impression I got from the trainer’s interview. Trainer sounds heartbroken.
October 29, 2016 at 20:32 #1269367It is a great loss for the owners and connections as well as the Scandinavian racing circuit, Bonanza, he was Norways best sprinter, and improving with age. Connections had plans of coming to Ascot again, where he won ASCOT AND CAMRA 10TH ANNIVERSARY ROUS STAKES (L) on Oct 1, only this time for the summer meeting. There’s only about 20 horses in Scandinavia with a chance of winning Group races outside of Scandinavia, so in reality Scandinavia lost 5% of the top, with just Easy Road.
Easy Road was versatile winning and finishing runner up in England over 5f and winning the Group 3 Polar Cup in Norway 2015 over nearly 7f (1370m) https://youtu.be/WnvlXdWSYSE
RIPOctober 30, 2016 at 10:05 #1269432Oh what a sad day for connections of Easy Road. To lose him for the sake of a minor operation that went horribly wrong. What a void this amazing horse has left and thoughts of what might have been a dreadful loss.
RIP Easy Road you will be remembered with love
