Comedy gold; you just can’t write crap like that.
December 2, 2010 at 18:47 #330881How does that help overseas punters? If it is assumed that the overseas punter has so little knowledge of British racecourses then how will they know whether the race is being run round a bend in the first place.
Speaking of going round the bend…

I just wish they would come up with a radical idea to give accurate going reports and going stick readings.
The "Poor overseas punter" is going to read the ground descriptions of Binocular’s Champion Hurdle victory and Imperial Commanders slog in the mud at Haydock and find that they have the same going description of "Good To Soft" in the form book.
And then they would then probably conclude that its a waste of time.

I
feel clueless, I never noticed that the stalls were numbered differently in the UK. But then, there’s very little post position bias because the turns aren’t as tight.

Ah Miss Woodford, if you want to experience the
acme
of post position bias you should attend Chester Roodee rather than Churchill Downs. We can outdo you lot any day when it comes to the importance of the draw.
December 4, 2010 at 22:59 #331187They are also going to introduce the following on racecard for overseas punters….
N.O.T. – not off today
T.D. – trying today
T.D.B.O.I.O.G.O.A.R.P.O.W.P.I – trying today (but only if owner gets on at right price, otherwise we’ll pull it)
P.M. – pacemaker
P.M.F.W.B.S.M – pacemaker for well-backed stablemate
P.M.F.W.B.S.M.R.B.M.G – pacemaker for well-backed stablemate ridden by my girlfriend (see any one of several recent Kieren Fallon rides)December 4, 2010 at 23:55 #331196AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 102
December 5, 2010 at 01:33 #331209That’s brilliant.
Maybe the Wolverhampton clerk of the course would like to give overseas punters a proper track description. 1 minute 16+ seconds plus for 6 furlongs doesn’t equal a Standard To Slow surface. Just "As Slow as possible" should be the track description.
December 5, 2010 at 01:59 #331211Silvoir has made it clear. There is no such thing as
P.M.F.W.B.S.M
only

December 5, 2010 at 10:19 #331228Only 1 meeting at Kempton earlier this week yet racing was put back 5 minutes at the request of South African TV, not that the SA racing shown here clashed with the Kempton races though.
Yet 90% of the time when races clash here and are shown on ATR & RUK, sweet FA is done by the BHA even when there might be only 2 meetings!Regarding the stalls rubbish, it is one of those stories when you first hear it, April 1st auomatically springs to mind.
The 2 readers contributions to the Racing Post today regards the issue best sum it up.
"What a ridiculous thing to come up with! Anyone authorising expenditure on this should be relieved of their duties".
The BHA is obviously not concerned about real issues such as prize-money. This shows why racing is going down the pan. Ludicrous".
