I’ve been advised to have a substantial ante-post bet on this horse in the Kentucky Derby.
I’m not a follower of U.S. racing and would like to know if anyone can tell me anything about him.
Do you think its a good bet at the current price? If not what would be a good alternative?
Thanks.
March 25, 2009 at 22:40 #218371There has been a lot of hype about this horse, he cost a vast amount of money as a yearling and has high profile owners, but his two wins in non-black type races don’t really entitle him to be Kentucky Derby favourite.
I’d wait and see what he does this weekend before risking any money on him.
March 26, 2009 at 00:03 #218394He has zero GSW (Graded Stakes Winnings).
As things stand he won’t get in to the KY Derby and he needs to run top two in the Florida version (major competition from Quality Road) to get entry, or alternatively run in a race later in April – Wood Memorial would seem the most likely but that would mean shipping up to New York.Might well be the best horse in the race and he has been impressive and cost a ton but at the prices there are better value bets out there – Quality Road, Pioneer ofthe Nile and The Pamplemousse to name but three.
March 26, 2009 at 03:52 #218416He’s got a lot to do in my opinion. He could turn out to be amazing but there are other contenders for this in my eyes.
Freisian Fire to name one
March 26, 2009 at 04:29 #218419Thanks for the replies guys, I will place a smaller wager on him before the race on Sat, by the sound of it if he wins his Kentucky price will disappear, but I won’t be playing big on that until I get a better idea come Sat night.
