The late, much lamented The Sportsman‘s correspondent said in his review of the Totesport Mile heritage h’cap at Goodwood last August that…"runner-up Dunelight ran an absolute blinder [considering he wasn’t afforded the soft lead he got at Ascot the previous week when successful]. and is surely up to winning in listed/pattern company.
A bold statement given he carried just 8-4 that day, but after today’s events, a correct one. ;)
June 9, 2007 at 19:38 #64228Congratulations, wizard.
It was a very weak Listed race though.;)

dunelight looked the best one, backing the godolphin horses at the moment is not a wise idea, they dont seem to be running as well, and giving that extra bit at the end.
June 10, 2007 at 16:04 #64233Think it was unsuitably fast ground as opposed to anything up with the Godolphin yard that beat Army Of Angels.
June 10, 2007 at 17:30 #64234Is this another one of your lodgers performing a heinous piece of aftertiming, prufrock?
June 10, 2007 at 17:35 #64235Smithy, the fact that it was in print last August suggests it wasn’t after-timing!!;)

June 10, 2007 at 17:53 #64236Having watched the race a couple of times, Army Of Angels was clearly hanging when asked for maximum effort, but then ran on ok. This suggests the ground was probably too quick for it (as has been suggested), plus maybe Goodwood is not an ideal course…
