For all my bets, long-priced or shortish, the only winner I had to a very small stake was Kinsale King, for which I have Miss Woodford to thank.

I actually did Lizards Desire and was exulting at having £2 on a 33/1 winner! Oddly enough, it’s not the first time that’s happened to me at a Dubai meet. Or perhpas it was a Breeders Cup. At the last minute I spotted it was 33/1 and remembered how impressive it had seemed in its earlier wins there. But a miss is as good as a mile, if you don’t have it each way or in a forecast, and my each-way bets tend to be also-rans.

Despite Da Re Mi’s win, it does look as if the hot-climate horse tend to have an advantage. But maybe that’s chuvinistic sour grapes.

I don’t think there was any evidence from this ride that Presvis is only effective when ridden by Moore. The partnership with Fallon was a disaster that doesn’t make the horse quirky.

Lemaire had the option to make his run on the outside and inexplicably decided to switch inside where he would have needed a miracle to avoid trouble. The horse does not need to run through horses – see his Newbury handicap win.

It was very definitely a poor ride but typically on here there is always someone wanting to argue against the obvious.

It certainly was not a good ride, he made a mistake in switching inside. However, even that might not have made much difference as the winners in most races there today were pacemaking or up with the pace, the straight is quite short and doesn’t offer much help for hold up horses round the tight turn. And today the curse suited those up there near the front. It would have been difficult for Presvis to win, I backed it but don’t think the jockey was to blame.

Stilvi, both of us have been here long enough to realise that i’m not trying to start a pointless argument. All I was doing was pointing out a fact that I noticed this morning….that Presvis has only won once without Moore on board.

I’m not even referring to todays ride.
