I’m with you Ian a total snooze fest for me the whole Arab racing scene. Have to admit though the grandstand at Meydan looks impressive.
January 28, 2010 at 20:01 #272585Certainly had a curtain raiser feel to it. Seemed like plenty of turf horses were using it as a prep. Dont think we saw too much in the way of form this evening. The fawning of the Dubai Racing Channel would have put Briony to shame. Think I’ll watch the RUK coverage next week.

Rather listen to Gosden than any of the prats and imbeciles that ATR and RUK pay
Nevison or Gosden?
Luke Harvey or Gosden?January 28, 2010 at 21:36 #272605You seem to forget Mr Wilson that this is a forum mostly populated by the ‘clever’ tweedy clique that would abolish most flat and all artificial surface racing and would probably like to shoot all flat horses rated in double figures unless they agree to run more slowly, further and fall over occasionally.
In between semi-cryptic or ‘superior’ digs at the core of racing they will try to get you to join in their syndication of a 45 rated all weather animal that you could probably outrun.
That aside, it’s good to have different or other coverage and it’s good to see the british contingent almost dominating the opening day. A good lead up to the winter derby and the start of the flat season.
Not surprising it’s mostly ignored here though I’d expect a cursory thread or two about the main event, even if it is only to lambast it it as unworthy without Sea The Stars participation and in comparison to the two day Perth festival.
January 28, 2010 at 23:25 #272623The Perth Festival is three days, sberry.
See you there.
January 29, 2010 at 00:13 #272628It was a rare treat to listen to Gosden fawning over marvellous Meyday. Should ensure the Princess Haya horses don’t go too far away.
January 29, 2010 at 23:18 #272816There really is a Perth festival? I honestly never knew, but guessed those pesky arabs must have copied the idea from somewhere.
Probably won’t be there this year, please pass on my apologies.
February 4, 2010 at 17:19 #273959Gone downhill this week unfortunately, Carson is "the expert" and in conjunction with Persad it gives an unhealthy Sunset & Vine – BBC connection to the coverage. They even had McGrath calling a race last week and what a pigs ear he made of it, had to redo the commentary.
February 4, 2010 at 18:21 #273979Didn’t realise it was on Sky Sports as well but I did wonder why we had two people in a studio talking about Flat racing in the middle of the jump season. ATR should have stuck it behind the red button – at one point there were three meetings being run at the same time.
February 4, 2010 at 18:58 #273986The race replays with juggling cartoon dots are very very poor.

I guess none of the dissenters have worked out what an easy earn the De Kock camp provides at this Carnival every year.
February 5, 2010 at 15:54 #274154J A McGrath the "expert" today. Talk about jobs for the boys!
February 5, 2010 at 17:26 #274184Anyone think Cat Junior 9/1 or Snaafy 25/1 are not bad e/w bets in the 620. I’ll watch it anyway. I won’t have a bet though.
