    Dixieland Band, 30 years old, destroyed yesterday at Lane’s End farm, where he will be buried.

    One of the last surviving sons of Northern Dancer, he was a cracking broodmare sire (Street Sense, Monarchos etc).

    he lived to a good age,sorry but i hate the word destroyed its sounds like he was a piece of garbage not a living breathing animal, its much nicer to say put to sleep that’s just my opinion. :cry: :cry:

    RIP one of the greatest broodmare sires ever. He was beautiful and energetic (and fertile, not retiring from stud duty until age 28) up to the end.

    Sad news, not many left now.

    ND was the best flat race sire in living memory, IMO.
