Can anyone explain why this post has been reported inappropriate by someone?
January 1, 2018 at 14:27 #1335270Jaso, the “report” button, is very close to the “quote” button, and this happens from time to time.
Just to confirm, your post is obviously ok.
January 1, 2018 at 14:27 #1335271Apologies that was me. On a mobile the report and quote buttons are small and close together and the report button got pressed in error. Once you press it that’s it you can’t back out.
January 1, 2018 at 14:29 #1335273Yeah, happens a lot Mike, no harm done.
January 1, 2018 at 14:42 #1335275I think Willough is absolutely made for 3m2f tbh, let alone 3m. Stamina and jumping his assets and will improve if/once stepped up in trip. If goodish ground in the JLT likely to be outpaced.
RSA being a “tough race” is an old wife’s tale, with little evidence. Unfortunately Palling takes after his old boss Henderson in believing this superstition – even with Bobs Worth winning both RSA and Gold Cup and Might Bite favourite for the second leg this time around. Of the last ten to try the double Denman and Lord Windermere also successful. Another RSA winner Don Poli placed in the Blue Riband.
There were two other front runners in today’s race, so can understand different tactics used; if it’s a contested lead in March that should stand him in good stead too.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 1, 2018 at 14:46 #1335276I think he will get it in time, but nothing suited him today, stables in terrible form, ill be surprised if they put the loss down to the trip, likely that will be the last thing on paulings mind
January 1, 2018 at 15:13 #1335284I thought that Yanworth ran a very good race in defeat last time out and was particularly impressed by the way he makes up ground on the flat especially after a gruelling race.
Obviously his sessions with Yogi B have helped him today and Barry Geraghty was very careful to keep him wide of the others.Heart in mouth as he took the lead after the last and then started to idle in front and all credit to Sizing Tennessee for running the race of his life.
Willoughby Court did well to keep on his feet after that one bad jump and with the extra weight the writing was on the wall for him, same with Ballyandy as both rallied but had no extra to give.
Well done to all Yanworth supporters today, he’s improving with every run.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 1, 2018 at 16:15 #1335291No matter what was in the race today and what kind of excuses they’ve had, Yanworth ran a very solid race and always found an extra gear when he had to. His jumping seems to have improved an awful lot in his last two starts and though I’m not a fan of him and connections, he really impressed me today.
By the way, I think his performance today was more solid than any of Thistlecrack’s when looking just at runs in novice chases.January 1, 2018 at 18:19 #1335300More convinced than ever that Yanworth needs blinkers. He did really well today. His jumping was better than at Newbury although not by much and he has some engine in that frame.
Ami Desbois, BTW, pulled up with a breathing issue. FWIW, WC never looked comfortable and I doubt it was the ground. Wasn’t quite right although I’d doubt he could have beaten Yanworth today even if he had been.
January 2, 2018 at 11:19 #1335355The Pauling yard are in poor form and, as with Fry and others suffering from low strike rates recently, it’s difficult to judge how badly the horse is affected.
I’d still have WC to beat Yanworth in the JLT.
January 2, 2018 at 12:48 #1335358I thought Yanworth did well to win, but his jumping is simply not good enough. He won’t win anything at the Festival jumping like that
