Heres a bet i made up years ago and occasionally still do
Myself and a colleague used to do a 20p EACH WAY lucky 15 each and every saturday.
We used to get a couple of winners and places on each of our bets and so we decided to put our bets together to combinate them like this . Still only staking our £6 each :Heres an example how we used to put the 8 Selections on a betting slip and betting instructions:
2.30 ORANGE ORDER GOODWOOD
3.05 BLUE MARINE GOODWOOD
4.45 PURPLE RAY ASCOT
5.15 RED SOMERSET ASCOT
——————————————————————–
2.00 GREY CLOUD GOODWOOD
3.35 PINK FEATHER GOODWOOD
3.10 YELLOW BEAN FOLKSTONE
3.40 GREEN GIANT FOLKESTONE28 X 10p each way doubles
2 x 10p each way lucky 15s ( top 4 bott 4 )
20p each way acc ( all 8 )total stake : £12
as you can see we combinated our selections with each way doubles all 8 selections and i cant remember a time or very rarely when we didnt get at least our stake back and we had a couple of nice bets up to.
Lets say for arguments sake we get 2 winners at the top both at 5/1 and 2 winners at the bottom at 5/1 and all others are losers .
We now have 6 each way doubles up at a return of £22.80
We have 2 winners each on the 2 lucky 15s returning £5.60 eachTOTAL RETURNS : £34 which equals £17 each
How does this compare though if we did 20p each way lucky 15 seperately ?
Well 2 winners at 5/1 returns £11.20 each
So by combinating these we were better off in the long run .
So by using the same stake we were £5.80 better off each.
All we did was to half our each way lucky 15s and then combinate all selections.
If all 4 win at the top and all 4 lose on the bottom then of course you would wish you had just done a 20p each way lucky 15 .
Though dont forget you still got another 6 doubles on those 4 too.Overall it is a good idea – especially if both of you pick 4 winners!
20p each way 8 fold ……………nice!!Good luck
binocularmandoes has anyone else have an unusual bet ?
August 4, 2009 at 00:44 #242449I like the Lucky 15 with a a little twist ..
If you have 4 races with a couple of bankers. Pick 2 horses in the other races and have 4 lucky 15’s, each way .. it’s pretty hard to lose if your selections are reasonable and you get the right bonus stack.
50p e/w = £60 (or £120 if I’m feeling flush).
I haven’t done this for a while because I have to go a drive to get a bet on.
August 4, 2009 at 02:56 #242466Quite interesting binocularman. I do lucky 15’s quite often and sometimes do 7/8 selection each way doubles. Just never thought of combining the two. Would only considering doing this on a saturday (and all selections would be my own) so might do that this weekend. I’ll let you know if I do!
