I was very impressed by Ortensia today, she could be called the winner a fair way out and I thought she won with a lot in hand. Given the same trip and ground conditions in the Nunthorpe I give her a favourite’s chance but I note that Ladbrokes have Bated Breath favourite, at half her current odds, at 7/2
I know which one I will back if that Status Quo is in place on 24th August.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
August 3, 2012 at 20:07 #408840It was the best performance over 5f or 6f so far this season. There is not a British trained sprinter capable of matching it at present so if she were to reproduce that on the Knavesmire it is difficult to see anything realistically challenging her. Pearl Secret is open to improvement but has over half a stone to find, Bated Breath is genuine but has yet to show that level of performance.
August 3, 2012 at 20:12 #408842I thought the commentator today said that this was her last race in England. Thought she won easily today.
August 3, 2012 at 20:30 #408849That’s the impression I got as well, reet. I was so pleased to see her win today as I’m sure connections never dreamed that she’d be racing on such soft ground over here [dread to think what she was thinking!] and it’s good for her to show us just how talented she is.
August 3, 2012 at 20:38 #408851Yes i was impressed and as far as i’m concerned that was her true running. If lining up should be close to evens for the Nunny.

August 3, 2012 at 20:48 #408854Yes, I was impressed Steve, with the penalty it was probably a better performance than the Meydan win. But the race had no strength in depth. Principle rivals Hamish and Tangerine failed to give their running. Bated Breath would be a serious rival, but she’d certainly have every chance if connections decide on going to York.
Value Is EverythingAugust 4, 2012 at 15:54 #408939Thanks to all who responded, it is appreciated. I didn’t hear the post race commentary and was assuming that she would try her luck at York as she held an entry and looks to hold a terrific chance if it doesn’t turn too soft. Interesting that the July Cup run on a bog has seen 4th placed Ortensia win yesterday and 5th placed Hawkeyethenoo lift the Stewards Cup today. Funny old game, as Jimmy Greaves would say.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
August 4, 2012 at 16:01 #408940Just in case you hadn’t seen, 2nd placed The Cheka runs in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville tomorrow. Mind there is quite a strong home defence.

Thanks, I hadn’t noticed that. Will check out the form and odds after the Athletics tonight.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
August 10, 2012 at 16:07 #409430Ortensia is an intended runner in the Nunthorpe, her odds are creeping in slightly across the boards.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
