Because his Lordship is normally all over these like a rash: https://www.sportinglife.com/racing/results/2023-07-05/worcester/746159/wacky-weekender-festival-pitchcroft-21st-23rd-july-conditional-jockeys-handicap-hurdle
“Held up in rear, headway on outside from 5th, lost ground on leaders 3 out but yet to be asked for any effort, closed last, very tenderly handled flat, went 3rd inside final 100 yards, stayed on”

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 5, 2023 at 19:08 #1654448I can’t wait to see the results over any enquiry into this performance and / or ride.
I don’t know if the jockey had some form of injury , but the ride given , was perplexing to say the least.
The horse appeared to be absolutely cantering throughout , and even after jumping the last , was given absolutely no assistance from the saddle , in my opinion.July 5, 2023 at 19:21 #1654449She wants to keep her 10lb claim for the rest of her life and values that more than winning a race
She followed the winner all the way for most of the race so being held up wouldn’t have made a great deal of difference both Lady Eaton and Bensini travelled well for the whole race. She made a mistake by going inside and having to come back out losing a length or two in the process then went back inside. She could have gone harder and sooner at the horse as she must have known she had plenty under the bonnet and having followed Bensini most of the way must have known that one wasn’t stopping either. That said that could have been her max. She is no Seb Sanders afterall..

July 5, 2023 at 19:28 #1654450Just had a brief look on the BHA website , and although there was an enquiry , the stewards don’t seem to have considered the running or riding of Hillsin.
July 5, 2023 at 19:30 #1654451I didn’t even look at Hillsin was watching the winner and runner up..
I’ll take another lookCharles Darwin to conquer the World
July 5, 2023 at 19:31 #1654452I was going to say – Dylan Kitts is a fella who is a 7lb claimer outside of races like this.

No. But it sounds like a shocker.
July 5, 2023 at 19:41 #1654455Racing Post: “The rider reported his mount made a respiratory noise and hung badly right, but the Stewards suspended the horse from running in any race for 40 days and the matter was referred to the Head Office of the BHA.”

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 5, 2023 at 20:11 #1654457Stewards report:
“An enquiry was held into the running and riding of HILLSIN (IRE), ridden by Dylan Kitts and trained by Chris Honour, which was restrained at the start and dropped out early to settle at the rear of the field, before gradually improving its position throughout the final circuit to be prominent rounding the home bend, whereupon the gelding travelled strongly down the home straight, without appearing to ever be asked for its finishing effort and finished third of eleven runners, beaten 1¼ lengths.
The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race. The Veterinary Officer reported that two post-race examinations of HILLSIN (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities. The rider stated his instructions were to drop HILLSIN (IRE) out early, keep a good hold of the horse’s head and take his time, before mounting a late challenge.
Kitts explained that the gelding settled well and found a nice jumping rhythm, and he had been able to make ground easily mid-race when the pace steadied up, however HILLSIN (IRE) made a respiratory noise towards the end of the back straight, which continued on several more occasions throughout the race, and the gelding had also hung badly right-handed, both facts he had reported at scales and which restricted his ability to be more vigorous in the home straight.
The trainer confirmed the instructions and that HILLSIN (IRE) had been ridden in accordance with them, however whilst acknowledging the gelding had hung-right handed, he did express concerns over the manner in which HILLISIN (IRE) was ridden specifically from jumping the last hurdle.
Honour also reiterated that he had emphasised to the rider that HILLSIN (IRE) needed to be held together for as long as possible based on his analysis of the gelding’s run at Exeter two starts back, where he didn’t get home for a different yard. The matter was referred to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority and HILLSIN (IRE) was suspended from running in any race for 40 days.”
The report does not mention that the horse was 2/1 last night, drifted during the day, opened 7/1 on track and was returned at an SP of 11/1.
July 5, 2023 at 20:14 #1654459Thanks for the updates re the stewards , guys.
July 5, 2023 at 20:33 #1654460Young Kitts has previously been involved in another contentious ride , namely , on Jet of Dreams at Warwick in May. On that occaision , a 14 day ban was handed out by the stewards. On that day Warren Greatrex , the horse’s trainer , appeared to disagree with the stewards decision.

She’ll certainly earn more money that way.
July 5, 2023 at 21:34 #1654463I haven’t got much time for many of the self-appointed new younger (well, younger than me, anyway, but who isn’t?) generation of racing pundits on Twitter, but the one who consistently makes me laugh the most with his irreverence, even though I by no means agree with everything he writes and says, is “Icy.”
And once again, the fella hasn’t let me down: https://twitter.com/icyestretro/status/1676669352446251031?s=46&t=VKy0h7R0doWNXi_NxxboFg

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 6, 2023 at 07:19 #1654478Stepping back from this incident and looking at the wider picture my main thought after reflection overnight is: “The BHA can work with bookmakers and tracks to produce as many fixtures and races morning, noon and night, 24/7/365 as they like, I will only bet on racing where, broadly speaking, I never have any integrity concerns, namely top class Flat and Jumps racing and Hunters’ Chases. Too many low-grade Class 4 and 5 Jumps Handicaps and Class 5 and 6 Flat Handicaps don’t deserve to generate a single penny in Levy revenue.”

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 6, 2023 at 08:08 #1654480Finally managed to watch a replay of the finish late last night.
To be fair to the lad, I am not convinced the horse is a straightforward ride. But connections have to understand how terrible it looks. Only beaten just over a length with the jockey almost motionless.
The old “made a noise” argument seems very convenient. How can that be disproved? The vet said the horse was OK after the race but he still might have made a noise. But if he did, why did the rider not pull up?
The fact the horse drifted so badly in the betting makes it look even worse.
July 6, 2023 at 08:18 #1654482I think that’s a very fair assessment, CAS.
Dylan Kitts is a 7lb claimer, no one should expect a Tony McCoy-style finish from him on any occasion, and two runs previously the horse appeared to throw in the towel when put under pressure.
But the visuals – and many felt that far from simply motionless he actually appeared to take a pull in the closing stages – juxtaposed with the pre-race market moves just make the whole thing look appalling.
I do have bets during quiet midweeks when I think opportunities arise, but most of my turnover is at weekends and at bigger meetings nowadays and it’s not hard to see why.
You simply don’t get incidents like that at Royal Ascot – I’d add the Cheltenham Festival too, but I’m wondering if they’re planning to offer the Harchibald (finds zero off the bit and actually curls up) defence to BHA Head Office on top of the noise claim which, as you rightly say, people can disbelieve if they want to but they can’t actually disprove.
