I think Spiritual Star is very much the one to beat if he gets quick ground again. However, as far as I am aware the forecast is for unsettled weather so probably not worth taking the 9/1 ante-post.

I’m a big fan of Fencing, although he’s also entered in the Autumn Stakes. He has the breeding, has looked good in both runs and was heavily backed from 3-1 into 5-4f at Sandown last time.

I like Fencing too. One of, if not the Best looking two year old I’ve seen in the flesh this season.

Trouble is he missed the Royal Lodge with a minor injury, so whether he’d be in A1 condition is questionable at the moment. Gosden also doesn’t want it too firm either.

Might take a chance on him nearer off time.

I did wonder why Fencing had missed the Royal Lodge – where he would surely have gone very close. If I didn’t have doubts about Street Cry and the Derby trip i’d be on him already for Epsom.

Doesn’t look much on quality this year or quantity for that fact.

Hopefully we get a decisive winner.

For the second time Richbowman, find myself totally agreeing with you, about Street Cry this time. I had exactly the same thought, even got to the stage of picking up the phone for a Derby bet. Before thinking better (or should that be worse?) of it.

Had I not already backed Harbour Pilot for the Guineas would’ve backed Fencing for that too.

I’d go for power in this, I think its one of the toughest horses I seen this year, 3/1 aint a bad price

Power @ 3’1 has the form in the book.
But possibly Spiritual Star might be the fly in the ointment just looked at the run at Newmarket and he could not have won any easier.

Maybe Power is one that only does enough against any opposition. If not I think he can be beaten by an improver. Bronterre, Ektihaam, Spiritual Star, Most Improved, they’re all improving lightly raced types. Red Duke hasn’t shown what he can do the last twice and Parish Hall is another progressive two year old from a stable with a good record in this race. Looks an open race.

I’ve gone for Ektihaam with a saver on Bronterre. Former impressed me on his debut at Newbury. Leaving me in no doubt he’s a Group class animal. Then followed up in even better fashion at Doncaster. A big son of Invinsible Spirit, acts on a firm surface despite a round action and still has a lot of scope for improvement.

Bronterre won a listed event at Goodwood easily by 5 lengths in a good time, looking potentially top class.

Tough race with nothing outstanding except Power looks instantly opposable. Lay of the day for me.

Given that Power is 7lb clear on ratings and is available at 3/1 something doesn’t seem right. Unless Messrs Magnier and Tabor are keeping their powder dry till raceday.

Read Matthew Tester’s opinion on the Sporting Life site, he thinks Bronterre has to improve least to surpass Power. Plenty of unexposed types in marked contrast to the Middle Park and probably best to adopt a watching brief.

I doubt if even AOB thinks the racing public would believe him if he said he was some sort of wonder horse.

I reckon he’s been more forward than most and will find tomorrows race much tougher with the opposition less likely to suffer from from inexperience.

Expected Power to be very short, so may have to go against article selection Ektihaam, although expect the two to finish 1-2, just don’t know what order.

Just out of curiosity, why isn’t Power around the 6/4 mark?
