The more I know the less I understand.
I believe he has already settled the amount with HMRC.
This challenge was to do with whether Frankie should be named. He believes that as he settled the initial dispute with HMRC, he had his right to anonymity. The tribunal found in favour of HMRC who believed he had no right.
Tribunal don’t sound like criminal trial to me , if he’s paid all that he was found to owe imho he had a right to keep his name confidential.
Not sure why they had to name him sounds like mismanagement from the people he employed.

I’m also struggling to understand why HMRC was so keen to name Dettori, or what public benefit it serves. The only thing that making an example of him is likely to achieve is making other wealthy people ensure they appoint better accountants.
And who was covering HMRC’s costs in pursuing this action? If there was a cost to the taxpayer, I would have thought better uses could be found for the money.
How the hell can be be bankrupt with what he’s earned , I’m hoping for rockyesqe estate auction , we should all chip in and buy something ..

Without knowing the full story it is possible the HMRC petitioned for it which they can do if the debt cannot be paid by the debtor or the debtor is just not forward coming with payment. Other grounds can be financial irregularities but it sounds like the people he employed to manage his finances have done the opposite but the blame will fall on him.

I have to wonder about what sort of financial advice he has received over the years. When I lived in Putney, he opened a very short lived burger restaurant with Marco Pierre White. That looked like a case of chucking money down the drain.

He also invested in a “sports bar” at Stamford Bridge, in the pre-Abramovich days, which turned out to be a flop.
I went to many events there, including several charity dinners, and it appeared obvious that Frankie was not involved in the daily running of the establishment.
White has a history of being a let’s say difficult and untrustworthy partner … allegedly
