I hope as well as retiring Des Scahill that Martin Harris, Mark Slater and Tony Ennis are dropped from the commentary rota, they are all soooo boring

Still seems to be little new blood coming through, Tim Peters the last one I believe.

Another Dessie special today called Kibaar the winner of the 510 when it was Perfect Pasture, surely it’s time to put him and us out of his misery now /

Seems Irish commentators have a job for life.
    All of them seem amateurish.

Why do they have to straighten up for the approach that will bring them right across the entrance before the straight?

At least he’s not as bad as Arthur Cooper who is truly dreadful when calling races in France

Malcolm Tomlinson got the finish of the first at Redcar all over the place today but immediately realised and apologised for the gaffe

That made me laugh. Classic Dessie.

Des Scahill commentating 1pm Punchestown – 5 horses up to the final fence, 3 with nose bands on.

Des:”and it’s Mall Dini with the noseband”

He didn’t commentate today, it was Jerry Hannon.

A great line of his is “As the make the run across towards the approach to take them towards the last before the turn into the approach towards the two before the turn into the straight”

His commentary for the Christmas Hurdle today – holy mother of McCoy, that was atrocious.

They should discuss retirement. That radio style, list-the-horses commentary is now so outdated it could be assessed on The Antiques Roadshow.

Got me so confused , Bellshill then Shaneshill that I completely missed the the run across towards the approach to take them towards the last before the turn into the approach towards the two before the turn into the straight

I backed She’llbeallright at Fairyhouse today and, even though i knew the colours, Scahill’s commentary in the straight was so poor that i wasn’t sure, even with the number clearly visible.

It seems to be that most Irish races i watch these days, he’s struggling for names and nouns.
