Paul Carberry is back on Mad Max on Saturday.
He won’t be if Fairyhouse race on Saturday but that does look unlikely.
Psycho was 4/1 joint favourite with Captain Cee Bee in an earlier Group 1 race, but fell 4 out, then was 4th and last to the same horse, when not seeming sharp.
Joint second-fav if memory serves me correct. I think Riverside Theatre went off favourite in the Swordlestown. Psycho’s dismissal of Osana at Naas was very taking but he’s also in the Hilly Way at Cork on Sunday which will go ahead.
Thanks for that, Imperial Call. Incidentally, I’ve just noticed that the RP race-reader suggested he would have won the County Hurdle if his jockey had started his run earlier. Although, oddly, the brief note said he was never going to get there. Although he might have meant "in time".
December 8, 2010 at 01:00 #331573Robinson Collonges for me in this. I know Nicholls has made a bit of a hoo haa about the ratings given to his novices recently, but this one has really impressed me a lot. Very quick over his fences, he looks very much like a future star to me. I can see him running VERY well on Saturday…
I’ve also had a small saver on Daves Dream, if he’s in the same form as last time he must go well, in my mind theres a bit of a doubt with that though. He looked good 1st time last year, then disappointed for the rest of the season…
Big win bet on Robinson & small saver Daves Dream for me…
Good luck all.
December 10, 2010 at 23:00 #331999Psycho for me. Only doubt is the trip. As Grimes has already said, he probably would have won the County Hurdle had Paul Carberry sent him after Silver Jaro earlier than he did. Imo he has potential to be a Grade 1 performer, outlined by his recent success over Osana, a good yardstick. At 8/1 he could represent a bit of value. No doubt he’ll be waited with with Davy Russell, with the intent of picking them off up the hill. Also like Little Josh and Mad Max.

Osana is starting to become a thorn in other trainers sides. The horse is rated too highly and unfortuantely Phsyco took him on, beat him and may have paid a very high pride for doing so.
Not saying he can’t win because he’s always been a horse when he’s right will go with the best of then but be does seem very high in the handicap.
Was interested to hear what PN had to say about RC he seems very confident of a big run, It seems like all he has to do is name them Collonges and they start winning
Kinda puts me off as surely they can’t all be superstars..or can they?To be honest I barely noticed the horse existed until the other and haven’t watched him run but it’s PN it’s Cheltenham and if the man says he’ll run well you just have to listen.
I think we’ll find whatever wins this almsost everyone will have fancied it a bit but may not have backed it.
Most competitive looking chase of the season so far.

So don't run, just like the others always do
December 11, 2010 at 14:41 #332111Thank-You, Calgary Bay.
Took 33/1 midweek. There’s a big race in him.
*EDIT*
Bloody Hell! I backed him on 02/12 at 07:01…It wasn’t that long ago was it? What’s happening to December?

December 11, 2010 at 14:52 #332116What concerns me about
Calgary Bay
is that the Doncaster race he won 12 months ago falls on the same Saturday and miraculously he runs off virtually the same mark he won it off last year!

My suspicions aren"t unfounded as Hen says if Doncaster is on then
Calgary Bay
runs there! Thankfully for Bosranic and his supporters there"s more chance of a Capercallie feeding on my nuts than Doncaster thawing for Saturday,it was -10 degrees and 6 inches of Snow covering town moor this morning! 33/1, 1/4 odds 1st 4 has to be taken now as there could only be 15 runners turn up on Saturday and Calgary finishing 4th is feasible!
Fancy that!
December 11, 2010 at 14:55 #332119^^He battled on well, didn’t he? Being niggled at some way out. See my edited post above – I ask again, what is happening to December?!
