What about the forgotten horse Whiteoak, pulled too hard last time but back on good ground over the perfect trip, surely 12/1 is too big, she at least looks a definite runner at this stage. I m amazed the Voler isnt going for the champion. She looks so speedy i’d have major doubts about her getting up that hill. Thought she could win the champion off a fast pace.

Voler La Vadette had a slight set back last month, I think that might have swung the trainer’s mind towards the easier option.
I’d agree that she’d be very hard to beat if she ran in The Champion, see’s got Go Native well covered for starters. Only Dunguib and Solwhit would stand in her way IMO

In an ideal world I’d have liked to see VLV in The CH and For Bill in The DN.
Instead For Bill is staying at home this season and is being aimed at The Punchestown Festival

    Two great mares!

You guys make me laugh. Voler La Vadette beats an out of sorts Go Native and you have her being a Champion Hurdle horse

Like White Oak before her she’d be tailed of in the Champion Hurdle.

The only reason they ran White Oak in the Champion Hurdle is because she’s a mare and had she been placed it would add to her value when she retires. I think it was old Ginger that came up with that bright idea if memory serves me correctly.

If Murphy thought Voler La Vadette could be placed in the Champion Hurdle he’d run her in a flash but he’s a realist and knows the difference between hacking over a horse like Given Time and running in the Champion Hurdle are light years apart.

I would love to see her try and beat Quevega if she gets to Cheltenham for the mares.

The fact is she would have to beat her easily to give her any chance of winning a Champion Hurdle and I doubt if she could even do that.

    Fist

I can’t see how Go Native fans can totally ignore the VLV form, and it’s not just you Fist, If Go Native was ready in her previous race, ready in her next, what went so wrong in between?

I’m not saying Go Native is without a chance in The CH, far from it, without VLV and/or Dunguib I can probably only see Solwhit finish in front of him,

It’s just that whenever VLV and GN next meet there is no logic reason for VLV not to confirm the form. 13 lengths is a hell of a beating and she bolted away from the field in a just few strides that day

Same thing applies to Binocular, some posters on this forum must have been watching him through "Rose Tinted Binoculars" and are convinced that, despite this season’s form, it’ll be all right on the night.

Some times the obvious REALLY IS the obvious

She has done what your Binocular has failed to do twice this season so Fist!

A lot of people (myself included), have argued that she should run in the Champion Hurdle because we don’t think she is as effective over 2m5 as she is over the minimum trip.

She is a totally different mare to Whiteoak who doesn’t have anywhere near the amount of gears. Whiteoak is a stayer who was ran off her feet in the Champion. VLV would certainly be able to go with them. Whether she’d stay up the hill well enough to challenge is another matter.

I’ve followed VLV since she won a bumper up the North a few years ago but if Quevega shows form at Gowran on Saturday, I can only see one winner of the mares race.

Morning Supreme could shorten big time in this market if she beats Pittoni etc

I think Noel Meade felt Go Native wasnt ready for the encounter and given that many feel he isnt a dour stayer anyway, the smart filly turned him over rather easily.

However, while she is no doubt a good filly, there is nothing else in her form book that makes her Champion hurdle material. I thought she was rather workman like at leopardstown.

I think you’ll find she was under the weather that day, she had a setback in training immediately after the race so that’s a fair assumption. Workmanlike is a fair description
I’d much prefer to see her in The CH, the distance and pace of the race would suit her racing style better, the only think I worry about in the mares is the distance, that looks as far as she’ll go, her only defeat was over 2m4f. She’d need to settle better than in some of her earlier runs to get home with enough left for the hill.

I was quite surprised to see Pittoni in the field it’s a fairly big ask for a 4-Y-O

I am surprised Pittoni is running again…maybe he is a stuffy horse and needs more time over hurdles.

Morning Supreme is the one to beat for me though

Wallace I’ve not gone through the form yet but I know most from memory and I’d agree it looks like that you’re right

The title of this thread is David Nicholson meaning forget this race for her as she will be going for the Supreme if she wins(which she will    ).

Eh its a tricky little card….i be more of a Sky+ other than Shot From the hip in the bumper
