With Voler La Vadette under a slight (injury) cloud and possibly not best suited to 2 & 1/2 miles anyway and the race appearing to be between Whiteoak and the vastly overated Quevega I wonder if the connections of the unbeaten FOR BILL will consider running her here?
They intend to send her chasing next season, she’s already jumping fences at home, so this might be the only opportunity to add a top hurdle win to her impressive record

I was debating with myself whether or not i’d go for Stravinsky Dance. That’s the kind of lines i was thinking along at the odds anyway. I don’t think Quevega is over-rated. She has gave a good account of herself in all her races, and hammered the field in this race last festival obviously. I fail to see how you draw that conclusion.

Quevega hasn’t shown that much the UK, three good runs impressive win over United at last years Festival, but he’s no world beater, beat Sesenta, who has a much better record on the flat that over hurdles, best run would be 3rd to Solwit. Her early French form, whilst the win to run ratio looks good on paper, wasn’t in that high a grade, well below the grade of Jumbo Rio’s French excursions for instance. Hammered in a decent French hurdle on her last run in may, hammered by Won In The Dark in Ireland. I’d say her current odds are crazy (Mullins factor) Looks the one horse I’d most be wanting to lay at The Festival if I layed

I’d say her current odds are due to the class of opposition over the course and distance, or the lack of it rather. Her timing would be of a similar profile to last season in as much as she had one easy run before the festival, after being off the track for a while. I think 3rd behind Solwit and Punjabi is very credible, given her size and drop back to 16f. As for Auteil, that was over 22f on very soft ground. Nobody is saying she is a superstar, she is however a classy wee battler with plenty of heart and ability.

If getting beaten by Grivette and Hurricane Fly, Portal’s Toy, Questarabad and Porto Rico isn’t good form then someone please tell me what is?

For the record it was exceptionally hot on Grand-Steeplechase day (39C IIRC) when Quevega contested the Barka and I think she can be forgiven one moderate run where the ground was very testing relative to her best run at Cheltenham. I’m a firm believer that she’ll be seen to much better effect on better ground – particularly given her physical size.

The form Stravinsky Dance showed in France is in age restricted races for fillies – her run behind Long Run flattered her somewhat (although I’m a huge fan of SD) so shouldn’t be taken entirely at face value and she’s not won since the 2008 Bournosienne – backing her now is working on the assumption (and judged on the market it’s the correct assumption) that she’s working very very very well at home. She’s not the most obvious candidate to improve from 4 to 5 (or indeed to have improved from 3 to 4) and at the moment I’d prefer to be with Willie Mullins mare.

No doubt Martin, but we’re talking 6/4 and a horse at 10/1 here. The odds on Quevega come with an assumption that she will return to her best form. I think she is the most likely winner, but WP isn’t exactly banging them in. SD might just enjoy the better ground. I took 14s on the purple machine for SD !

What about Alegralil? Very highly thought of in the yard and open to improvement?

An interesting contender for sure Moe – she’s entered in the Grade 2 Rossington Main Novices Hurdle at Haydock on Saturday. Would say she has a fair bit to find on the ratings but she’s unbeaten so is clearly on the upgrade, will be interesting to see how she gets on at the weekend.

Would also like to throw Morning Supreme in – she ran a blinder in the Champion Bumper last year when attempting to make all, and is unbeaten over hurdles this season. Would have a good shot if one of the main fancies underperforms.

Alegralil looks a good sort. It’s hard to know how good it was because nothing from that race appears to have run since. She looks like she has lots of energy though, and a good type with scope for improvement. If i was looking for an outsider and an excuse to check a couple of horses out, i’d look along the lines of ‘no one tells me’ @ 61/1…Asturienne @ 208/1….and the best outside bet if she runs would be JY Vole @ 123/1. Why is JY Vole that price, isn’t she going to get an entry ? i just can’t see her going for the Ryanair. I’d be on that if if wasn’t for those damn minimum deposit limits !

if murphys mare is right she wins, best mare in british isle.Shes still improving rapidly with every run.Id question whether she’l return from that injury as the same mare. I know Murphy has issued its not that serious but mares are very delicate and often dont come back the same with muscle problems like that.

I’m glad to see someone finally agrees with me! Any idea what Voler’s injury/setback actually was?

Does anyone know if Alan King is considering this for Asturienne? She’d certainly be a contender if he did…

Very Surprised if For Bill was to run….Owner has no interest in the bringing her to the Festival he said after her last run.

Really cracking Mare though. I love her hehe. Won me a few quid on her Bumper Debut
