Hi Grimes
See us open tennis Nadal 2nd fave but could be fave if Novak not recover from injury could of pulled out in last match
While in womens K Pliskova and B Andrescu are 2nd and 3rd faves now behind Serena they are every chance final could be between them.Though Andrescu has Wozniacki next be a awkward match
August 30, 2019 at 19:25 #1452403Thanks for the tip, Dazzler. We’ll probably see Nadal get injured now! But seriiously, on what you say, sounds like Nadal might be worth a punt.
Pleased Rory looks in good shape, but very, very disappointed Simona was beaten by an up-and-coming type. I had her in a double with Rory Mac and someone else who won last nicht at around evens.
Maybe she hadn’t fully recovered from her Wimbledon heroics. I think it often happens with these athletes that their body knows their it’s not back ‘up to scratch’ again, before their brain does. Sometimes, as they say in horse-racing, they’ve been ‘bottomed’ – by their epic efforts in a gruelling race and never fully recover.
Funny expression that; a bit like politicians, when they sometimes say so-and-so ‘has bottom’ or ‘a lot of bottom’, not commenting on their sexual persuasion, but on the general esteem in which they are held, kind of ‘status’. Something like that, I think.
I put a bit on Andreescu, Daz. I’m pretty sure it was you who tipped her with a write-up as, fortunately, is the custom of the four of you. Exciting to have all these irons in the fire, isn’t it ?
What time is the Wozniacki match, Daz? I’ll see if I can find it, anyway.
September 1, 2019 at 10:09 #1452552Last round and Graham you have Green up there and Van Rooyen hovering maybe to get placed.
I have Bertasio (200/1 ) close to a place so a good round from him to get him in the eight would be nice!!
And Grimes is on Rory so its hopeful rather than confident!Good Luck Guys
September 1, 2019 at 11:01 #1452556Yeah Raymo, they are off and running in the final round. Best of luck with
your man Bertasio, great chance of a place at huge odds, but not without a
chance outright if he gets off to a flyer. Van Rooyen has just started and
has birdied the 2nd so he’s level with your man who has yet to tee off. Gavin
Green was going great guns, but I thought he had blown it when he was 3 over
at a point in the 3rd round, but he pulled it around with a couple of birdies
and an eagle for a -1 round. Not ideal but he’s still in ther swinging just
2 shots off the lead.He tees off in about 10 mins.Grimes good luck with Rory, he could blow this field away if he hits top
form. I liked your tete-a-tete with the the young lady in the supermarket,
it just shows that there’s life in the old dog yetSeptember 1, 2019 at 11:38 #1452560Another day in US open both Andreescu and Nadal into next round look like she get Osaka in semi final while from here that Kyrgios out i expect Nadal get to final now
K Pliskova plays Konta today so hope Karolina can improve as not been at her best this week but can turn in a world class showing anytime
Also no hope in golf for me look at golf next week
September 1, 2019 at 19:49 #1452589Well that certainly didn’t go to plan Raymo
All three of mine finished on 11 under. Pavan with a 65 and Van Rooyen with a 67, I could
have done with either of those scores for Green, who had an uninspiring 71. Pavan got off
to a slow start but got better each round, he’s got winner written all over him, I’ll be
keeping my eye out for him.Grimes you had an unlucky day too mate, I thought when Rory got through to the play-off that
he would likely pull it off. You got a good run for your money, but just like Raymo and I, it
wasn’t to beSeptember 1, 2019 at 19:54 #1452591Well at least your three beat my fella Graham !! Shot sixty nine to finish ten under. I think it was a case of one step forward and then one step back!! LOL
September 1, 2019 at 22:09 #1452600‘…. I liked your tete-a-tete with the the young lady in the supermarket,….’
Not as much as I did, BigG….. holding onto the counter for support, I expect, and hoping she didn’t spot I’ve only got two front teeth at the top now – like Bugs Bunny! On a more serious note, lads, I’m gonna have to pack it in now, as I believe the Man Upstairs has not been pleased that I’m betting again.
We all follow different paths, and it’s no more a part of my vocation, it seems. I think it’s only because of the time I spend on it, and I have to say, He ends up always being right ! It was great fun to be part of this thread, and get the lowdown on past form of a lot of the big-priced golf bets, as well as the shorter-priced ones. Anyway, I’ve still got a few bets outstanding. I bet on Roge a while back, I think at 7s, so I didn’t bet on Nadal, though I probably should have, as well. A bit peed of about Rory, but I doubt it will have been the first disappointment for any of us !!! Good luck then lads. I might be tempted to see what you’re all up to with your bets from time to time. A quick glance….. (cough).
September 2, 2019 at 01:12 #1452684You’ve got to do what is right for you Grimes, I’ve got bags of respect for
someone when they know it’s time to pull up stumps. No need to be a stranger
though, and I’ve enjoyed reading your slant on life, and other things, you’ve
had me laughing many a time. Drop in any time you like Grimes, you’ll always
be welcome here. I wish you all the very best mate, just don’t go getting a
an exclusion order for stalking that bonny wee thing down the supermarket,
on the other hand, you only live onceSeptember 2, 2019 at 17:01 #1452719Bets for European porsche masters
XANDER SCHAUFFELE 10/1
When hills open a book on this event this morning he was 3rd choice at this price now he is 6/1 clear fave which should been before. He a class act winner of Tour Championship on debut and a WGC in Asia and last time out 2nd behind Rory in Tour championship not a winner on European tour but can put it straight this week.
SAM HORSFIELD 80/1
Was 48th here last year but he can take a strong hand here as this course suits his talents a powerful hitter in form to 3rd in Czech masters 10th in Sweden can go well
RENATO PARATORE 66/1
Young player from Italy who is finding form again was 2nd here last year look to be going well at weekend of Omega masters but in the end was 12th with form at venue every chance
SEAN CROCKER 125/1
Was 33rd in 2017 but 2years on will arrive here in better heart has come close to breaking his duck this year on tour but still a maiden. Was 28th last week that a decent showing by him go even better this week.
DEAN BURMESTER 200/1
Big hitting South African who in last month or so been showing eyecatching form though debut at course no doubt in my mind it suit him 3rd in Sweden and go even better now
Has i mention Raymo and BigG before if up early on monday mornings with early fancies can get good prices from hills like i got this week with Xander,Dean and Sam happy hills do this but they not be happy if any of those 3win
Miss you Grimes i hope Andreescu can win for us hope you back soon
September 2, 2019 at 19:16 #1452724Really kind of you to say that, Daz. I appreciate the warm fellowship on this thread, including from the less garrulous than you, BigG, (who’s also been very agreeably soft-soaping me) and me: Raygo and Mom.Yes, wouldn’t it be great if Andreescu comes up trumps. I do have a little on her to be the beaten finalist, as well, I think.
Anyway, I was chuffed to see I’d won a little bet on the S African Retief Goosen, the favourite ina foursome, on what I think was called the Kornferry Barclay something or other. I remembered him winning a big event some years ago, and was impressed with his character. He seemd a really decent soul.
PS
I’ll quietly do my nut, if Schauffeler or Burmester wins! (and perhaps rebuke God in a muted kind of fashion…). He’s been beating a tattoo on my knuckles recently, trying to rein me in…)!September 2, 2019 at 19:21 #1452725I see Novak’s out, as you suspected, Daz. And as you say, your girls have come in nicely in the betting. Good luck, matey!
September 2, 2019 at 19:34 #1452727Well, I’ll miss your craic and banter, BigG. You’ve been very welcoming, and I appreciate it. I might well drop by to see what’s cooking and how you’re all faring and hope I can make an amusing comment or two from time to time.
I bet your missus and Dazzler’s are prayig you don’t ever get together and spend twice as much time studying the form and conferring, while they want to discuss Coronation Street with you, while you watch it on the tele with them !
Best of luck, mate! Happy Days.
September 3, 2019 at 10:34 #1452750Will be a shame not to see you on here Grimes but you have to do whats right for you and yours and if that means not betting then good for you. Maybe you could pop in sometimes and just see what we are up to and cheer us on!!
Darren I see you got in early on Xander and his price as gone now!!
As there is only one decent golf tournament this week I will do the same as last week and back six and hope for better luck than last week!
EUROPEAN OPEN

September 3, 2019 at 20:10 #1452796Thank you, Ray, I’m sure I will stop by to see what’s cooking – if only to pretend to myself I’m betting.
I wonder if any of you know what Fred Winter is doing playing a drug-dealer or drug boss, in this video-clip of a song by Jennifer Rush. (But there again, I keep forgetting I’m as old as Methuselah).
September 4, 2019 at 02:20 #1452817Porsche European Open
Thomas Pieters 16/1 (30/1 1st round leader market)
He’s in too good form to let slip through the net this week. He was a nice
winner for me a couple of weeks back in the Czech Open, and he did very little
wrong last week in the European Masters with 2 opening rounds of 67. He slipped
back a bit in the 3rd round with an average 70, but came through with a wet sail
in the last round with a blistering 65 for a decent T12 place. He hits it a mile
and in his last 8 rounds he’s hit rounds of 65 and 66, and 4 rounds of 67. He can
score low and has a great chance in both the o/r and 1st round markets.Matthias Schwab 25/1 (35/1 1st round leader market)
This Austrian only turned pro in 2017, but he’s already proving himself up to competing
on the European Tour. He showed his potential when T3 at the BMW International Open back
in June, and last 2 tournaments further franked his form with T5 in the Czech Masters and
T8 in the Omega European Masters. I think there’s more to come from this fella.Bernd Wiesberger 28/1 (40/1 1st round leader market)
Turned into a top notch European player, and an excellent season to finish runner up to
lowry in the Race To Dubai. Runner up in the Irish Open and wins in the Scottish Open
and Made In Denmark show he knows how to get the job done. Slightly disappointed last
week when he just missed the cut in the European Masters, but I’m taking it that it
should be back to business as usual this week on a course that I think will suit him
better.Guido Migliozzi 100/1 (80/1 1st round leader market)
He’s only 22, and turned pro at 19. Most of his golf has been on the challenge Tour,
until this year where he managed to get his foot in the door on the European Tour
proper, and he got that 1st important win earlier in the year at the Kenya Open.
he showed that was no fluke when he won in the Belgian Knockout. He went a bit
off the boil after that, but he started well last week in Switzerland with a 65
and finished well with a 66, so his game isn’t that far off. I don’t think he
should be 100/1, he’s well worth a crack at those odds in my book.Like Raymo I’m not that impressed with what else is on offer golf wise, so I’ll
stick with the one tournament this week, Things should be back to normal with
the PGA Tour getting underway next week at the Greenbrier. Very best of luck
this week guysI had to look up some old photos of fred Winter Grimes, but I see where you’re coming
from with the video, there is more than a little resemblence. Maybe he had a bad run
with the horses and was doing a bit on the side to make up the losses. I wouldn’t mind
doing a bit on the side with Jennifer RushSeptember 4, 2019 at 12:42 #1452839Things going ok in tennis guys got Nadal 9/2 now odds on for glory with no Novak in Federer left for him
While Bianca Andrescu plays her QF tonight odds on to get to final Bencic be hard in semi final but expect her get there
While bets next year look good in majors
DANILL MEDVEDEV 50/1
NICK KYRGIOS 50/1 for oz open those prices now gone toHope both Rafa and Bianca keep it up this week
