Official Turftrax going report is quoted as good to firm (good in places) yet the readings are 7.7 right across the board on the straight course (which is pretty much the midway point between good and good to soft) with the round course being given as 7.0 (closer to good to soft than good).
I know we have a warm week ahead forecast but if the going stick measurements quoted are to be believed, the ground conditions are actually quite a bit slower than what is being reported – with the above link stating watering being done Sunday to maintain the current going those who were expecting/needing fast summer ground (Without Parole comes to mind) could be in for a surprise come Tuesday.
June 17, 2018 at 21:53 #1357172The whole going reporting is a farce at times. It’s worse when dealing with French Races.
Looking at the going for Shahnaza in her previous race the Racing Post gave it as Heavy, while At The Races reported it to be Good.
What chance do punters have without the true going data?
Seems like Horse Racing is 200 years behind other sports.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
