What I know about training racehorses and running them can be written on a postage stamp, with room to spare, nor is it, of course, false modesty in any shape or form. But, in the latter part of the race, he seemed to be able to make up ground on the level, as he was entitled to, so I can’t help wondering if maybe he should have done that from more or less the start, to keep much closer to the pace, and then take off/accelerate again towards the finish, earlier than he did (or tried to).
I dare say he’s just difficult to win with though, now, at least over fences, and they’re riding him the best way he’ll allow.
I have always really liked this horse and I would agree with you that what you sugested would probably be the best way to ride him now. I hope he picks up another good race sometime.
been following crystal for ages, i think this horse has got great potential , just a case of when and where.
What’s gone wrong with him though Chloe?
He looked like a potential star at the age of 5 when being beaten narrowly by Baracouda on a couple of occasions.
It’s getting a bit late for him now at 9.
I know you are right paul , but i still think one day he will do the bizz , hopefully at huge odds.
