Think Godolphin will win this tomorrow not with Master Of The Seas, who ran 2nd behind Naval Crown at Meydan, with
LA BARROSA who won the Group 3 Somerville Stakes on the course last September.

O’Brien will be firing his best guns at this race also so the danger would have to come from Khartoum although he may want a bit more give in the ground.

La Barrosa .. Win 7/2 Paddy Power
(sadly missed the 5/1 on offer earlier)

    Good luck. Jac :good:

I was leaning towards La Barossa but he’s not entered in the Guineas which might be a pointer as to his level of talent?

I’m not too worried Frenchy as The Craven rarely throws up a Guineas winner. I just think he had the best profile of all of them to win this race.
Godolphin and AOB have so many other arrows to fire and La Barrosa has proved he goes on the track that’s why I like him.

Slowly getting into the flat betting-wise, but i did think the favourite was a very likely winner today.

Like La Barrosa he’s proven on the track, has a run under his belt like Masar did for the same combination and most importantly, the strongest single piece of form at the Curragh where he raced freely and still managed to finish 4th in a hot race.

PS Jac, nice to get a thread up and running for this, surprised there haven’t been a few more given the interesting racing this week.

:good: Agreed Jack but suppose it takes a while to come out of the afterglow of Cheltenham and Aintree.

I was waiting for someone to put up a Nell Gwyn Thread yesterday but it never happened. Sacred was my choice along with Nathan we both napped her in the Craven competition but would also have been interested in what others thought especially about beaten fav Love Is You.

I saw you mention Sacred in another thread, lovely pick! I found it interesting that Haggas said after Newmarket last year, that she looked more a 3yo than a 2yo, but that she wouldn’t hardly even stays 6fs…shows up now and wins over 7f lol Horses can fool everyone!

I think you mean MOTS Jack? I’d be wary of that Curragh form, don’t think I’ve seen a Group 1 where they dawdled like that ever.

Like La Barrosa myself, was very impressed by him last year in his Group 3 at the track when he was hemmed in until a furlong and still won easy. AOBs are feeler horses and MOTS with a hood on after a poor run in Dubai has the warning flags all over the shop. Meehan horse is interesting for all he seems a bit of a nutjob.

Master of the Seas for me

If anyone has an account PP have boosted him to 100/30

The hope being that the first time hood gets him to settle as he’s being racing too freely

Appleby has a 33% strike rate with first time headgear

If it works I think he will take plenty of beating :good:

La borossa for me. Looked a nice type last year (much nicer than mots) master of the seas just too temperamental for me to be backing as a favourite. Naval crown beat him easily. I’ve give too many horses a chance to settle in the past

Yeah I am a fan of Master of the Seas, he was almost my pick for the Guineas until that horror show in Dubai. Serious question marks about him after that in terms of being a Classic winner, but he ought to be winning this. I do think he is a classy looking horse, he obviously needs to settle, maybe the hood does it. Interesting that the RP state today that CA strike rate with his horses in first time hoods is high, something like 35%

Interesting take on the National Stakes Kev. Could be right, but isn’t the fact the first 3 home in that were also the first 3 home in the Dewhurst, mean the form is franked about as good as you can frank form?!

    Master of the Seas 3/1

    I’ll give him another chance!

    I’m sticking with my choice.

What we will know is that if either of the obrein horses gets anywhere near winning none of these has any chance in the guineas as they are here to see what the opposition is like

I really don’t think AOB cares that much about the opposition, he has to run his horses somewhere, he has so many.

My thoughts on La Barrosa Jac, is that I know the Craven rarely produces the Guineas winner, but it might be just a pointer that he wasn’t entered as it suggests they don’t think he’s that good.

This might not take that much winning though mind, so I can see the interest.

We’ve basically split this thread between the two Godolphin’s, so that makes AOB winning a certainly ;-)

As a big fan of ganster / mob movies, I’m hoping Khartoum is a decent colt.

Couldn’t quite see but think the hood helped him settle

Thought La Barrosa had it there but Will Buick had a powerhouse waiting to strike with Master Of The Seas, he was best on the day.

Proud of the way La Barrosa fought it out at the finish he certainly had an easier path through than his stablemate.

Well done Frenchy and Final Furlong and all who never doubted he could do it. :good: Jac
