Anyone venturing to the cottenham point to point on Saturday using public transport can get a bus to the village from right outside Cambridge station Bus citi7 terminates there, according to my sources on the Jumping for Fun site, get off on Denmark road walk to Beech road and continue along that road past the industrial units and there is the track. First race 12noon with a scheduled last race of 3.30 but one of the maidens has over thirty entries so that may split. Further details on the PointingEA site where there will be a preview which is usually very informative and worth following.
February 4, 2010 at 14:17 #273922I’ll be there on Saturday and should be good racing as always at Cottenham. I’m not in the commentary box but will be lurking around the winner’s enclosure as I’m covering it for the Weekender.
February 4, 2010 at 17:47 #273968Ah, good man! Chances of me being there have upped somewhat, too. Must be Mr Payne or Mr Crispe on calling duty, I presume?

February 4, 2010 at 20:31 #274011Steve Payne – James Crispe is in attendance but not for all races as it is his birthday.
February 4, 2010 at 20:33 #274014Drinks are on him, then! I could use some Dutch courage before traversing that access road with the bloody great ditch running next to it…

February 5, 2010 at 09:36 #274079You wimp – I’ve jumped bigger ditches out hunting from a standstill!
You missed the new ladder innovation to the commentary box at Horseheath – a cage frame has now been put round it. Wouldn’t actually stop you falling off but would give you a bumpy ride down… Can’t see David Minton squeezing up it though!
February 5, 2010 at 11:56 #274108Alas, Adrian, my little Micra can’t jump.

Cage or not, I’m sure Horseheath’s ladder is still absolutely frightful. I’d sooner be hoisted in and out of the commentary box by a rope around the waist!

February 5, 2010 at 22:47 #274278See you both there then. Adrian I have given you a description so say hello and Mr Grayson, please don’t try and get the Micra to jump the ditch whilst I am upsides you walking in.
February 6, 2010 at 22:32 #274560Think we managed to avoid that eventuality, Bob! Grand to catch up again, and hope you’ve got back from Royston alright (or at least, at all!).

February 7, 2010 at 18:57 #274740Made it home fine Jeremy. Thanks very much for the lift to Royston, that was my train waiting in the station and I was back home by 7.30. Good to see you and also to meet up with Adrian and others.
February 7, 2010 at 22:41 #274807Splendid news, sir. And I’ll let you know nearer the time if Tweseldown is looking like it’s on for me.
