Zarkava, are you for real?!
Make no mistake, Sariska is a top class mile and a half performer. She’ll be right in the firing line come Longchamp in autumn.
June 4, 2010 at 13:57 #298561Youmzain was all over the place there
June 4, 2010 at 14:05 #298565Slow horse with no turn of foot and I stand by that. He will get utterly mullered when he meets proper 12f Group 1 performenrs. I dread to think how far back he’ll finish in the Prince of Wales.
When you said this after the Tattersalls Gold Cup I think you were righht that this could be a scenario that could occur, to say it after this race was laughable.

Unsurprisingly Youmzain and Cavalryman were never at the races, and FAG was all out to beat a 115 rated filly by 2.75 lengths.
That’s as good as Fame And Glory is, he’s done what he had to now, and no surprise if we never see him again.June 4, 2010 at 14:47 #298578Too firm for Youmzain? As David mentions wandered more than a Lost Jew.
June 4, 2010 at 14:48 #298579Ah come on, he’s a Mastercraftsman type that stays 12f. Look at him today, he was basically a pacemaker. Sariska came alongside and he just stayed and stayed and stayed. He is slow.
June 4, 2010 at 14:54 #298580Are you meaning 10f cause Mastercraftsman never ran 12f in his life, also F&G beat Mastercraftsman over 10f.
June 4, 2010 at 14:55 #298581For me thats nonsense Zarkava. Horses don’t accelerate, even flashy hold-up milers like George Washington never mind 1m4f horses. Its been referred to plenty of times on here that George didn’t quicken in his Guineas he just slowed down at a slower rate than the horses he beat.
Fame and Glory got post to post the quickest out of that lot that is a fact. King George winner i would think.

No, he’s a Mastercraftsman TYPE. Look what Mastercraftsman did in Ireland and in the St. James’ Palace, basically acted like the pacemaker.
June 4, 2010 at 15:36 #298595Sariska beaten by the ground, and will murder Fame and Glory when it comes to the Arc. You heard it here first.
June 4, 2010 at 16:28 #298615So a horse winning close to or just off the lead is "acting like the pacemaker" and as such is a donkey with no speed? Interesting. So much for Dubai Millenium, Sunline and the great Dr Fager.
June 4, 2010 at 17:32 #298624That’s four wins at he highest level for Fame And Glory, at least one every year thus far. That’s two for him this year and he promises to increase his tally.
Must be the luckiest ‘slow’ horse in history, eh?
Not bad for a Classic winner, anyway.
Today he beat a dual Oaks heroine (Sariska) and a Grand Prix De Paris winner (Cavalryman). I have never considered ratings as gospel, but I know for a fact they’re two very good horses and he beat them fair and square today, with a bit in hand come the finish.
He doesn’t possess an instant change of gear, that’s why Johnny kicked on as soon as he did, but he’s far from slow once he builds up a head of steam and stays very, very well. He has all the right attributes to excel at what he was bred to do – win top class middle distance races.
I don’t think he can win an Arc and I would be surprised if he improves any more than a couple of places at Longchamp this year – you need a horse with instant acceleration to claim that contest.
Fame And Glory will be a touch nut to crack in the King George. He could still prove vulnerable over ten furlongs, but I’d be very surprised if he wasn’t competitive at the finish in those races – the Irsh Champion could very well prove his best chance over that trip.
A Group One winner over ten and twelve furlongs, on heavy and firm ground. He’s a very good horse and his record proves it. No doubt.
June 4, 2010 at 18:18 #298635I was worried about F+G at the end of last year.
But O Brien has worked his magic once again. The horse is not a firm ground Horse yet he is still winning Group 1s with comfort. Sariska i always thought would cry away when push came to shove and she did.
Johnny rode a peach tho and that is exactly why he is Coolmore no.1. Brilliant ride just because it was simple.
Aidan says Prince of Wales next against Twice Over maybe if the horse turns out well. I think they should go with him until the well emptys. Another 1m2f Win is invaluable. Do a Duke of Marmalade. The Arc i can’t have since he has been on the go for so long.
Jan Vermeer is the Arc Horse from that stable i think.
Anyways great to see Sea The Stars form upheld and Sariska ran a cracker as well.

The Arc is in no-ones thoughts regarding a 3 year old stage at this time of the year with such a big hurdle to overcome tomorow. Jan Vermeer has to do something first then we’ll see about the Arc.
June 5, 2010 at 00:00 #298690I absolutely didn’t think FAG could do it. I was absolutely wrong.

Tell me what this horse did then… apart from accelerate.

2f out to 1f out = 12.03 seconds
1f out to the Finish Line = 11.30 secondsSomething happened…
June 5, 2010 at 09:05 #2987104 runs by June 3rd.
