Experience for me. Iwilldoit has proven himself here. I think his prep run over hurdles last month was encouraging and with a claimer on board he is running of a lower mark when winning the Classic Chase at Warwick at the start of the year. Also couldn’t resist adding regular Truckers Lodge here who already won two nationals this year.

    Iwilldoit 9/1
    Truckers Lodge 12/1

    Good luck all!

I couldn’t resist a small bet on Max Dynamo to finish in the first five.

He might be a big outsider, but stays all day, won’t mind the ground, and won well at Chepstow in February.

Wayfinder is slightly out of the handicap has never completed at this distance but Lilly Pinchin has a fair record here (19%) so will give them a chance.

The more I know the less I understand.

The Galloping Bear at 18-1 was my main hope, but he has to get back on track soon. He is now 25-1, and I put a little more on him this morning. Blade Runner at 40-1 would be more of an ew type, but I had to take that with 7plcs

Wayfinder and Blade Runner E/W, 7 places. Probably only 4 or 5 will finish though.

Small win only bet on Truckers Lodge, getting on a bit now, but I cant resist the family connection.

After having had the King George result spoilt for me by my father in law seeing it fit to mention that “I saw Henwick won the race, the King George” the moment I walked through the door, I’m rather looking forward to watching some live racing, safe in the knowledge my in-laws are all on their way home, far, far away!

For what it’s worth, he is not a racing follower, and had nothing to add to the conversation. Just letting me know that he knew. I’ve not bothered watching the replay, nor will I bother letting them stay beyond the King’s speech in future years.

I really like The Galloping Bear now the ground is coming up soft. I’m not too worried by the drift in price. If nothing else it invites further investment! Got plenty in his favour and the jockey booking is an exciting one.

The Big Breakaway ran no sort of race at Aintree, but I wouldn’t read into it. 4 pounds lower than last year’s monster performance and this will have been the target.

I wasn’t going to bother with Chambard, as the Becher/Welsh National double is an elusive feat, however there’s no denying how well he did it that day and is clearly in good heart.

Mine are still here and will be for another week 🙃 They’re nice but not racing people. I have been doing the ironing in the laundry room with the racing on my phone on mute (nods to Ian).

Will put this on the telly though.
Added Truckers Lodge ew with the ground the way it is- he should still be plugging away at the end.

    Yeah, brutal

One of the worst I’ve seen
It looked devoid of proper stayers

I had winner and third. Going played a big part of my selections pre Christmas, but was impressed by Iron Bridge. Any of the three looks a good deal for Aintree.

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

For those with the mute button on, ITV says no fallers, even though 5 finished the rest pulled up.
    Winner won by 34 lengths.
