When no-one took him on early on (thought Magic Wand was going to) I thought to myself “he could win this”.
July 5, 2020 at 15:51 #1492930Enable should never have kept in training for another year.
July 5, 2020 at 15:55 #1492933Great stuff Jac, after the disappointment with Peaceful, who did run a good race, this
must have been sweetJuly 5, 2020 at 16:00 #1492935It was Graham thank you He’s been knocked for not being able to follow up but he has now proved he’s a different horse this year, much more mature and when the pace hotted up he gave more.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 5, 2020 at 16:05 #1492936Enable will win races Austin she looked a million dollars. Gosden wouldn’t risk taking on Ghaiyyath when he was so full of running and up for a battle she could have burned out for the rest of the season. The Arc is still a possibility and she’s shouldn’t be written off.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 5, 2020 at 16:14 #1492940So they went a snail pace at the start I knew I was in trouble with Enable, buick clearly worried about the head wind, good ride. Frankie could of been abit closer.
Ghaiyathh proved himself today.July 5, 2020 at 16:14 #1492941Nice result for followers of The Monster!
Where next for him I wonder? Mr Applebey being a bit reluctant in post race interview to commit. Juddmonte at York would be my choice and maybe a interesting clash with Kameko.
Made up that he won after such a short break as I was pretty sure he needed 5 weeks plus (and hence had only a small bet plus a reverse forecast with Enable as a saver)
July 5, 2020 at 16:22 #1492942An Enable win from a clean sweep on the daily Yankee with Magny Cours, A’Ali and Dashing Willoughby, gutting. Have a feeling if she doesnt clean up in the King George she may not even make the Arc and bow out gracefully before, but what a servant she’s been regardless.
July 5, 2020 at 18:09 #1492956I wouldn’t be as buoyant as others about Enable’s efforts there Frankie was obviously very confident early on he’d be able to reel Ghaiyyath in sitting so far off the pace which is unusual for Enable particularly as she’s probably better over further but when the pace lifted to my eye she took a long time to see Deidre off initially and then didn’t really shrug off Japan until late on, never looked a winner. Perhaps they have left plenty to work on but if that is the case I’m disappointed in Gosden using a prestigious Group 1 as a stepping stone for another Group 1, albeit yes she can make history when they chose not to run the progressive Lord North. Take nothing away from the winner who always looked the winner, The Juddmonte looks ideal for him if he comes out of this okay but the Arc will always be problematic in that it will always be a big field and his run style will always be nullified over that trip by a bad draw or other front runners.
July 5, 2020 at 20:13 #1492975Well happy to get back to winning after Saturdays results. I don’t understand why people underate Ghaiyyath, his form without soft in the going title is 11111 with RPRs of 111, 122, 128, 126, 125. He proved himself in the coronation cup to anyone still questioning him including me and he’s older and CA said he’s the finished article this season. Yet still went off 9/4 against a vulnerable Enable FTO. It was a deeper race than last year.
July 5, 2020 at 20:48 #1492978Frenchy
I told the forum I would buy the pints if Enable had won.
She had 7-8 pounds in hand on official ratings including the 3 lbs mare allowance.
If she was ready and fit to win she would have been around 4/7 or close to it.
I try and use logic when looking at horses with weight in hand and look at their price. It just didnt add up and I told the forum she was 3/1 in my tissue and they laughed at me.
Sorry guys but no pints on me this time.
Colosus
July 5, 2020 at 21:02 #1492982It was blatantly obvious all afternoon as Enable drifted slightly as well yeah, can’t believe Ghaiyyath still went off 9/4. I completely agree with you Colosus, she should have been odds on at least, the fact she wasn’t told the story!
July 5, 2020 at 21:22 #1492988To be fair Frenchy, his RPRs are based mainly on beating up bad horses by far? Until he actually beats good horses, why wouldn’t somebody question him? He’s disappointed when put in proper races before? Even his run in the Coronation was beating a decent if unspectacular AVD?
He’s proven himself much more today than any race before. He was given 129 (rpr) for beating Donjah 14Ls. Answers on a postcard who that is! He could only manage a G2 in San Siro + was beaten by Aspetar also. He was given 129 today for beating Enable. Using Rprs is something i do, but in terms of a horse like this he is always going to throw big RPRs when winning regardless of the actual form.
I think the main question on Ghaiyyath is what happens when someone challenges him for the lead? Can he do what he does in say a big field Arc?

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 5, 2020 at 21:23 #1492989Yeah + to be fair i still laugh at the 3/1 Colosus. I would say everyone that did, still does.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 5, 2020 at 21:29 #1492990That’s exactly why people keep underestimating him though Jack. Always looking for excuses in his form rather than looking at the facts. Same with Benbatl last year which I think it was TheTinMan who pointed out. It’s better to be with these horses until they prove otherwise than against them.
July 5, 2020 at 21:34 #1492991Excuses? The facts are there in black + white he’s beaten up average horses by a mile, and in his biggest test finished nowhere?
I think it’s fair for people to question that no?
Do you think he’ll win an Arc this year?

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 5, 2020 at 22:03 #1492996Really enjoyed that one
Was waiting an age for my selection Japan to pass ghaiyath but he was just relentless on the front end and galloped him into the ground
If he gets a lead in the King George he will be similarly hard to beat
I have a feeling Japan may take a good while to recover from that so wouldn’t be interested in him at all next time unless he’s had a longish break
