“He is the best jumper of a hurdle at speed that I have ever seen.”
Binocular was pretty sharp but Constitution Hill makes him look sloppy

November 26, 2022 at 14:56 #1624699Constitution Hill broke standard by 2.83 seconds!
On Good to Soft ground they watered to make sure he turned up!
This horse is off the scale!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"November 26, 2022 at 15:21 #1624702He’s obviously an extremely talented horse, potentially the best of them all, but anyone who thinks that his hurdling technique is up with that of Night Nurse needs to go to Specsavers.
Sceau Royal is faster *over a hurdle* than Constitution Hill.
November 26, 2022 at 15:27 #1624708He,s fast enough.
November 26, 2022 at 15:27 #1624709He’s possibly not travelling “quite” as fast at the time he takes off, though, Gladders.
I’m sure we both saw Night Nurse live in his prime and Chezza thinks Constitution Hill jumps hurdles with that same exceptional economic precision.
Re Honeysuckle, why do some people have to be so tribal?
It’s all about what’s in the form-book, which last time I checked was readily available on both sides of the Irish Sea.

Chezza would be wrong.
However, we can agree on the fact that Constitution Hill is the horse most likely to topple Night Nurse as the greatest two mile hurdler of all time.
By the way, I was a bit too young to see Night Nurse over hurdles. The only time I saw him live was in his wonderful defeat of Captain John in the Mandarin Chase. How that race has fallen…

Ah, well Chezza remembers what he saw at Doncaster in January 1978.
It’s taken him nigh on 44 years to say it, but he thinks he has seen a horse who jumps hurdles every bit as well.
But tbh, I’ll settle for him clouting the last so long as he hangs on to win in March!
I’d even endure a Gladders “Told You So” dance to secure that!

He’ll have time to knock the last flat, get out the old tool kit, rub his chin in contemplation, replace the hurdle, queue up for a pint and queue again to get rid of it…and still win the race.
November 26, 2022 at 15:52 #1624716Chezza is delighted you’ve come round to his way of thinking since your first contribution to this thread, Gladders.
He’ll meet you in the pay-out queue next March.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"November 26, 2022 at 16:05 #1624719I’ve never doubted his raw ability. But there have been plenty of one-hit wonders over the years.
Barring good ground (which I’m sure his connections would avoid), this horse will win the 2023 Champion Hurdle.
November 26, 2022 at 16:13 #1624721I agree re one-hit wonders and that’s why I needed to see that second truly exceptional performance from Flightline.
If Roberto was judged on solely his peak form you’d rate him higher than Brigadier Gerard.
Twice will do me, though – but this is a great hurdler.
It’s a cliche, but the clock doesn’t lie so ever since the Supreme I’ve thought this horse was exceptional.
Really nice to have it confirmed today, though.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"November 26, 2022 at 16:35 #1624725Tell you what, Chezza: the fact that he’s broken standard time first time out, eased down, really marks him out as an exceptional racehorse.
Either that, or the French are now managing times at Newcastle.

After coasting through the final half furlong with De Boinville standing up and saluting.
November 26, 2022 at 17:03 #1624729The horse speaks for itself
November 26, 2022 at 17:25 #1624732Literally, innit.

And on officially Good to Soft ground they’d actually watered to make sure he turned up.
Scenes!
