This was actually the horse’s fifth run for Mullins and its first victory for the Closutton team.

And today was a much lower grade than the very competitive handicaps it had run in last season.

Not sure what they plan to do with the horse now. I suppose this win won’t do too much to the handicap mark.

Another £4,193 of prize money secured in the 2024/25 Trainers Championship today, after a winner at Worcester. Has Mullins ever had a runner there before?

I did not see the race but it sounds like Jonjo O’Neill Jnr allowed the Mullins horse to have a very soft lead.

Runs one in the first at Newton Abbot tomorrow. First prize £4,955.

I can’t recall him having any runners in Devon before.

I think we’re going to see more WPM runners in the UK this season, not just because of the trainers’ championship but also because there simply aren’t enough races in Ireland for the battalions of young horses at Closutton.

Mullins had a runner at N Abbot last September, called Alvanly. Finished 4th of 5 as the 3/1 on favourite.

He has a unique record in this country, as he’s got a 100% career record at six tracks – Exeter, Ffos Las, Fontwell, Ludlow, Taunton and Worcester. One runner, one winner at each of them!

Not so good at Newbury though – one winner from 45 career runners.

Wonder if he has considered a small set up in UK somewhere , send over his lessor lights to mop up loads races . He would clean up . System works for Appleby in US at moment , he has 17 over there and mopping up prizemoney in weaker turf races there wwekly .

Don’t remind me! Another vastly-improved horse for the move which never really reached those heights again, and in a big race too. Well I never.

(Yes, I was on poor Whisper that day)

And while most eyes are looking at York, Willie has one at Worcester tonight. Vaubans travelling companion no doubt.

A quick entry check, shows that hes probably got a large box full of horses travelling over here for Worcester, York and Cartmel and will no doubt have a decent return from his trip.
