John,

I’ve been doing some analysis of past races, trying to pull out some statistics that will point to winners. Under certain circumstances, my early computer program will generate a 70% strike-rate. Unfortunately, there are only about 15 to 20 bets a year, a loss is made over all, and it gets worse in more recent years. I think this is because more statistics are available to the general punter and bookie alike.

For example, if all the tipsters pick a selection, many punters will take notice and the bookies will lower the odds accordingly. The selection may win although this is not guaranteed. From the win to lose ratio, the bookies will set the prices so that us punters will always make a loss.

At the moment, I am trying to look for an angle that is generally overlooked and will lead to profits. It may be a long while coming!

In the meantime, my computer system selects Joly Bey as the winner in your chosen race – although the conditions do not satisfy the 70% strike-rate!

Best of luck, and search for the angle,

    Looking For A Winner.

    Hi LookingforaWinner

Mine also selected Joly Bey – and it won ;)

As you say trouble is you get short odds. So it takes me about 30 bets at a tenner a bet to make just £20. And there is no guarantee that in the long run this won’t be a loss of £20.

It wouldn’t be so bad if my bookmaker was next door but he is almost a mile away.

A system I used once was bet the S or F rated horse closest to the top of the card in handicap races providing it was 4th last time out and had forecast odds of 4/1 or longer.
This gave winners at longer odds and made a profit over the few months I used it, but it also had long losing runs.
Regards
John.
:cheesy:

    John,

I must ask, why don’t you use any of the "on-line" bookmakers?

    Hi Matron

I do not use on-line bookmakers, not for any strong reason.
I simply don’t like betting with the same bookmaker who is at liberty to close a winning account if he wishes.
I prefer to use several bookmakers.
Although the nearest is over a mile away, there are in fact six of these bookmakers in a sort of arc.

    Also-
I like to see the winnings – as cash – in my own sweaty little hand after a bet.
It’s more satisfying somehow.

An ideal betting method for me would be something like the method in P.Kilgallons book "How to beat the Handicapper". This consist of only 40 bets per year and
it picks 50% winners at odds such as 3/1, 5/1, 7/2, 7/1, 8/1 etc.

I’ve read the book and I still don’t know how he does it!
I’ve tried to do it papertrading and then gone broke!

I simply do not put cash down for real unless a system first makes money for me, papertrading only.
So I return to backing selected favourites the only method that works for me.

    Regards
John
:)

    Hello Jar.

    Very well done.

£42.48 with a Starting Bank of £200.00 is a great achievement.

    Keep up the good work

I will follow with great interest.

Even if a profit of only £1.00 is made. That would be enough to make an income. As long that £1.00 profit can be maintained.

    Again great stuff.

    Winalot.

    Hi John,

Your system is doing well, I used to use *******, *******, *******, and ****** as well but I always used *********** as a final check.

    :laugh::laugh:

I reckon this system will be a cracker when you’ve got it going.

I’ve noted that you’re betting to level stakes, would you consider a staking plan ??

    Keep going, Dave.
