dave,
the truth will set you free, let betfair deny I had the bet.
July 29, 2008 at 10:36 #175204Barry – you must have lightning fingers to be able to register with Betfair, deposit money into your account and still lay the horse in that short a time.
UNLESS …
You already HAD an account with Betfair.
Now why would you ALREADY have an account with a company whose trading you are trying to discredit and HOW LONG did you have the same account before trying to discredit them.
You can’t have your cake and eat it.
July 29, 2008 at 14:34 #175228dave,
the truth will set you free, let betfair deny I had the bet.
Ambiguity – the devil’s volleyball….
How can they deny a bet when you haven’t even stated clearly what horse you are talking about? Stop talking in riddles and tell us the horse and stake or paste the bet here.

Pure genius
July 29, 2008 at 16:32 #175243glenn, yes GLENN, says I talk in riddles.

July 29, 2008 at 17:00 #175246You can’t have your cake and eat it.
I’ve nerver understood this David

When I buy a cake for myself I intend to eat it. If somene offers me a cake, I take it with the full intention of eating it. If I give someone a cake, I give them it under the impression that the person will eat it.
Therefore doesn’t this conclusively prove that you CAN have your cake AND eat it.

July 29, 2008 at 17:22 #175249Thanks for that Mikky
I think I read somewhere that the original phrase was probably
"You can’t EAT your cake and HAVE it"
which makes more sense but somewhere along the line wires got crossed etc etc.
July 29, 2008 at 17:26 #175250Andrew – I can’t claim credit for that, an Emo Phillips quote
Barry – It was Le Duc at Aintree, but it wasn’t, it was at another meeting that day at a course you don’t stand at in between adverts on a channel on a planet far far away.
I’ll admit I’m confused and being told to ream through archives of posts years ago doesn’t clear up the confusion. I’m still none the wiser as to what the bet in question was or even the name of the horse. This is a perfectly reasonable question which you meet with bluster.
I ask again: what was the name of the horse?
