Keane will be riding for Juddmonte in Ireland, Britain and France.

    https://www.racingpost.com/news/ireland/juddmonte-confirm-appointment-of-six-time-irish-champion-jockey-colin-keane-as-retained-rider-avGON8w6gHf3/

I wonder how it will work? Is he going to be coming over to Britain to ride Juddmonte horses in maidens and handicaps? Or will he only be over for the big meetings and Saturday fixtures?

Assume it is for everything – he will be racking up the frequent flyer miles for sure

It has stated ‘contracted to ride the leading horses’ so I imagine there’ll still be plenty of rides to go around for others.
It’s just to get away from having to book an available ‘top’ jockey when the big races come around.

Ride of the day for me today on board Town and Country, his first ever ride at Sandown.

Didn’t think he was going to get there but gave me a needed winner.

Oh dear……..4 runner race at Goodwood and you get yourself boxed in on the rail trying to go for a run up the inside which (if there was ever a gap there in the first place) was never going to stay open long enough.

From a long way out you could see what was going to happen and you didn’t need to be a rocket scientist to realise that the only choice was for him to pull out around the other three to make your run. I don’t think the horse was good enough on the day anyway considering he found little off the bridle even when stuck behind but tactically it was not a great ride especially on your first ride back and its for your employer as well.

No money on the race at all before anyone asks but you can just imagine the flack Shoemark would have got had he ridden the exact same race.

As usual ITV pundits just find a way to excuse the poor tactical ride with a comment of got boxed and had no place to go!

Yep – takes some doing to get boxed in, in a four-runner race!

He rode that one as if he expected the cutaway that had been in place for the first three days, to still be there, at which point he’d have been able to get a clear run.

Shoemark might be having a wee chuckle to himself. Keane to my eyes a pretty average jockey and a very lucky boy to get the gig. Murphy the best behind Moore right now imho.Be interesting to see how the juddmonte position develops. No field of gold for a good while now so any mistakes are going to be highlighted.

The main mistake was to expect Oisin to move off the rail. I think Murphy is just too shrewd especially around Goodwood to let happen.
Keane is a sound jockey, but don’t expect too much from him. That Juddmonte job won’t last forever.

The more cutaways racecourses have, the better. If they’d had one for the King George it would have stopped that nonsense from Continuous during the race.
They’ve had a permanent cutaway at Dundalk for a few years now and it’s made a big difference.
