By the way TLAPK, will you be laying off to guarantee a profit or will you lay off to make it a free bet or will you just let it ride?

Dough,i only have £30"s worth of bets on Betfair on Tidal Bay for the World hurdle, but i had £25 e/w at 10"s that paid 14"s and a tenner on at 17.5 in running and another tenner at 7"s in running, so my World hurdle bets are already covered! Had i not backed him today i would have defineately laid off as insurance!

I think its of high probability that Tidal Bay will be even better what he showed today on Good ground. I thought he was fairly impressive given HJ was fairly downbeat about the ground.

Tidal Bay (rec’d 4lb) beat a 151 h’capper 5l, which is a long way short of Big Bucks’ standard, and though his hurdling technique may improve a little, it’s difficult to see where he’s going to find around 20lb from.
It might also be worth bearing in mind that, though he looked impressive today, his jockey reported TB was "flat out" the whole way.

Fickle fan you are! Tidal bay is a 10lb better horse on good ground,he will sprint up the hill on it! Flat out my Ar*e, he just doesn"t like soft ground, his class beat that lot! I know he can beat Big Bucks!

When I got home from the pub I thought about posting then I thought Naaaaa!!! couldn’t really face reading any TAPK I am the greatest threads. The fact you get alot more wrong than you get right doesn’t matter when you get prices like Tidal Bay’s so very well done Gord!!!

It would seem it’s Howard J who needs skelped between the ears witha baseball bat and not Tidal Bay

That big white eye of his half way up the run in is still a bit scary though and makes you wonder how he will respond to hurdles next time. He did win the Arkle and went on to win at Aintree so perhpas I’m being a but harsh.

Not as harsh as you though Reet. I hear what you are saying about him beating a 151 handicapper but Time for Rupert wouldn’t be a horse you could put your finger on and say that’s all he is. He is still pretty unexposed and another way of looking at it is Tiday Bay just kicked a rejuvinated Champion Hurdler into touch so the form is hardly bad. (now we know why Karabak stayed home).

Tiday Bay would have to win again over hurdles before I would dream of saying he’ll beat Big Buck’s but I will say having backed Big Bucks AP I would rather Tiday Bay went elsewhere.

I can understand Brian Hughes saying he was flat out from the start but he was the same when he won the Arkle. He seems to race through his races and isn’t a horse who you could describe as travels well he just doesn’t have cruise control but that doesn’t stop him finding plenty at the end of his races when he’s right.

Be just like the thing this goes to HJ’s head and he thinks problem solved and send him chasing again. Surely not.

World Hurdle is beckoning and there will be more than me thinking oh sh!t! Last thing I want to see is Big Bucks and Tiday Bay jump the last together both going well cos Tiday Bay will most likely outspeed him if they do.

Word perfect,so get on at 12/1,even that will go.When the short memories brigade realise he has lost none of his ability to jump hurdles and that 18 times out of 22 runs he has been in the first 2 and 10 times he"s won,the 12/1 will go faster than the tide comes in on Blarnalearoch beach!

Hold your horses mate I meant

    if

he jumps the last alongside him. I’m not so sure when he goes World Hurdle pace that he’ll be able to keep up if there is any sudden injection of pace. He certainly isn’t relaxed enough to show his best in a slow run race.

If it’s a strong even pace I think he’ll take all the beating.

Can’t see how you can lose at 12/1 really as there aren’t enough good horses in the race to keep him out of a place. Even if he is caught out by an injection of pace he’ll be running on better than anything at the end.

And what about Katchit. Remember how everyone wrote him off bar a few when he ran worse race pre Champion Hurdle.

I could see Big Buck’s hitting his customary flat spot and Katchit stealing a march on all of them from the top of the hill like he did in the Champion.

That race put a dent in my confidence with regards to Big Bucks. I am not yet convinced he’s the Champion people are making him out to be as he was taking over from another era and this one is in it’s infancy.

He looks superior but that can quickly change..I was ahuge Tiday Bay fan and backed him silly when he won the Arkle but if you had told me he would win a World Hurdle I would have said you were mad……..Come to think of it I think I did

Not sure if anything was said about Lie Forrit’s disappointing run in the race, but there’s a great interview with Lydia Hislop in this months MRC’s magazine, in which she mentioned [this was written before the race] that his training had been interrupted by the snow [he’s her favourite racehorse at the moment]. On the [Lounge] subject of dinner party guests it’s hubby and close friends, so, APK…no chance .

It didn’t seem to stop him being well backed though Moe? I personally think Lie Forrit is over hyped, you could have lined any number of horses up as favourite for some reason in the Cleeve and he certainly wasn’t mine. Lydia has her head in the clouds with this horse and can’t look at him objectively when she’s broadcasting.
