To be fair to Gordon Brown, he is such a complete ****** that I dont expect that history will ever manage to accurately portray the scale of how much of a ****** he actually was. Its nothing to do with him being scottish the bloke is just a ******, every country has them (we have gerry addams).

I cant help but expect that whoever is posted in for the clean up operation will bear the brunt of the public discontent over all browns failings.

    Word.

Nothing can or need be added to this, unfortunately.

Clarkson is an unadulterated ******. Let’s not be under any illusions about that.

Clarkson, has an uncanny way of expressing his views on virtually any topic and actually getting away with it! he also champions the politically
incorrect views many of us share but cant say them publicly, his anecdotes and analogys are pure class and he is way more articulate
than the man of few words, they call the "Grasshopper" if he wrote on this forum he would be called "Fist of fury09"!

This is just Jezza being his usual sarky self. The self righteous pricks in the press are just stiring it again, trying to form people`s opinions like they always do.

I find it strange, Andrew, that a man of your intelligence and literary ability is able to brand Top Gear’s audience as ‘moronic’, in the same passage that you lambast the bookmaker in question for pigeon-holing you based upon your genetic make-up.

Jeremy Clarkson is blessed with the ability to say things as they are, or, rather, as he sees them. Whether his opinion is any more valid than anyone else’s, or his delivery is less than fragrant, what does it matter? He presents and speaks beyond fear of the constraints of political correctness and public expectation, in much the same way most of you do here (one could hardly describe Grass, for instance, as unforthcoming).

Some people like it, some don’t. I believe the X-Files covered this phenomenon in the ‘Marmite Personification’ episode.

The one thing I do find strange is the inferred criticism of Gordon Ramsay. I appreciate that incessent swearing may not be to everyone’s taste, but questioning his abilities as a chef (I hardly think boiling an egg qualifies you for a Michelin star), as well as his astute business acumen, determination to succeed, general grounding and personality, is confusing to say the least.

Brits really don’t like other people’s success, do they?

I think Clarksons documentary on the Raid On St Nazaire is the probably best documentary I have seen ever. Clarksons presentation actually gave the documentary almost movie status in my book. For those who never watched it Type "the greatest raid of all time" into youtube and they have it in 6 chunks, absolutely brilliant and Clarkson done well to do the survivors justice IMO.

I do find top gear somewhat irritating at times however, but it is more richard hammond attempting to be clarkson that annoys me than clarkson himself, but T.G. is largely useless opinions and information IMO. For example, apparently a porsche boxster is a "poor mans porsche", well a poor mans porsche is still a porsche where I come from, they can give me one any day of the week and I’ll manage to muster enough street cred to keep me happy.

Never ever watch Top Gear, but Clarkson is a supposed controvertialist, except that he isnt…because his "opinions" are so very predictable. Hes the ultimate saloon bar bore. nothing he says is remotely of any interest whatsoever…

Hes perfect for the Top gear audience

Equitrack, you are of course correct. I was so busy expressing myself in a forthright manner, bravely snubbing my nose at the political correctness police, that I overstepped the mark. I am happy to retract my statement. Those esteemed members of the Top Gear audience were not morons, they were merely engaging in moronic behaviour. I hope that clears things up.

As for Mr Ramsay, cooking is a skill which you learn with time, just as plumbing, plastering and gardening are skills. It may be very tricky, it may be easy. But if the threshold for television success is that low, then lets have a few plumbers or mechanics on television. I’d certainly find it more interesting and useful to learn how to repair my own car.

As for his business acumen, I am in no position to tell and frankly couldn’t care less. I don’t watch television to witness great feats of business acumen. As for Brits not liking other people’s success, I think it subtly different. In my experience, Brits don’t like hype and don’t like being told something is wonderful when it isn’t (see the career of Damien Hirst).

I don’t understand what you mean when you say Clarkson is blessed with the ability to say things as he sees him. I thought everyone was, indeed, he does what we all do here, as you point out. I hardly see why that marks him out as worthy of praise.

Clivex’s summing up of the man seems spot on.

I used to enjoy ‘loving-to-hate’ Clarkson, as his Mr Angry non-pc stuff was passably amusing in a schoolboy-topgear sorta way; guff that elicits a simultaneous chuckle and shake of the head, but he’s long become nothing more than a boorish parody of that parody and I now just wish he’d fyrk off.

Or at least just concentrate on presenting programmes in the dignified, subdued and thoughtful manner he is quite capable of, such as when championing the great engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel (not seen the St Nazaire prog) Much nicer Jeremy, and the ‘real you’ I suspect.

‘Controversial’ (ha ha) mouthing-off buys the Ferraris though, sponsored by the licence-fee payer :x

My other car is a Wartburg Two-stroke Turbo Intercooled Vitesse Ghia XXX 500 with Go-faster Stripes and Carlos Fandango Wide-wheels…’bottom-end grunt’ and ‘classic rearwheel-drive feel’…yaaay! shithot Jeremy…fantastic!

tired, tired, so tired of it all

Struck a chord have we GH?

    You mention political correctness. OMFG!!!

He’s a ****** you say. Now that is offensive, you anti wankerer you.

    Bet you wank.

    Anyway. To the point.

Clarkson said he is one eyed.

One? two? one? two? one? one? two!!!

Sorry to tell you old pal but its one! He lost the other one whilst playing rugby. (Jeeez, I wish I played in that game)

Clarkson then said, Now keep up GH, "he Scotish". Now for our information, that means he has a funny accent and comes from a place north of Northshire!!

And as for the rest of Sir Clarksons quote.

Pull ye curtains open and take a good look at this country.

He’s as unellected as I am!

    Love you. XXX

What most annoys me about Clarkson and that other superannuated moron, Chris Moyles, is that they are reasonably intelligent people, pretending to be moronic for the sake of their careers. Clarkson in particular has become a kind of performing monkey for people to goad:

And Jeremy Clarkson’s reasoning behind this?

Money money money money … MONNNNNEY!

Personally Clarkson and his sorry band of midlife crises merchants on Top Gear come across as best as a group of mildly successful sales managers at a team building exercise in a Hertfordshire Hotel holding court at the bar, post dinner, trying to impress a fawning gaggle of sexually frustrated management PA’s. "OOh Jeremy, you’re soooo funny".

Not! I don’t care if anyone is offended by him or not, the real issue is the guy is a hampton of the highest order and should be sacked for being an unfunny moron who seems to think he has a highly developed intellect and sense of humour. Hope that doesn’t offend anyone.

That usually signposts the onset of cerebral infirmity, Rod bach. I’d get some pills from the local quack, if I was you. 8)

Clarkson is an unadulterated legend, and speaks out for many in this country who are fed up with the left-wing PC mafia who appear to run it.

    IMO, of course.

Brown is obviously a ******, btw, that doesn’t need pointing out to anyone with a brain.

I’ve always wondered who exactly are these people not uncommonly referred too as the ‘left-wing PC mafia’ or as someone else described them: ‘"Guardiianista"…liberal types’?

Where do they get their Mandate from? (Sorry Persondate )

    Thanks

People like that bloke who ruined the bank he was in charge of whilst sitting on the financial services authority…

So you’re suggesting there is some sort of organised Militant Tendency at work within the higher echelons of the Government, Finances and Media?

Interesting…I’m gonna keep an eye out at work. I reckon there might be a few subversives knocking about our place. How can I spot them?
