I wish her a speedy recovery.
In an interview she said she’s feeling "fantastic", but that doesn’t mean a thing really. Cancer has a way of making it’s victims feel as healthy as ever before seraiously striking them down. I hope this is not the case for her; but until further treatment is done… don’t jump to conclusions.
May 29, 2009 at 19:05 #230947At least she is dealing with it in a quiet private and respectful way unlike somebody who shall remain nameless but i think you know who i mean.
Get Well Soon Clare, The BBC Derby coverage wont be the same unless you are at the helm guiding everyone through.
May 29, 2009 at 21:23 #230962On a personal note my little sister died last Saturday from Lieghs disease which is a rare inherited degernaritive illness which females are the ones that carry it it can skip a few generations and suddenly appear again.
There is no known cure.
She went into Southampton hospital last Thursday and died last Saturday.
The illness usually stikes at children between 2-5 yeras old so my sister did well.
Her son died in his teen age years from the same disease.
Whilst I wish anyone fighting any illness the best of luck some illnesses are still un treatable.
On a betting note I have been doing those each way doubles that are on the systems part of this site.
I used to share any winnings with my little sister but it was not until last week that they all suddenly started winning this season.
I spoke to her about it while she was in intensive care and told her we had won a lot last week.
She managed to sqeeze my hand as I told her.I had already been told by the hospital she had 2-3 days max to live but it has paid for her funeral.
Her birthday would have been tommorrow Sat 30th and we had a family celebration planned at a hotel near Winchester we are now turned it into a family celebration of her life.
May 29, 2009 at 21:25 #230963I was at dinner last night and was asked for a donation for a cancer charity by a man whose own daughter had had three different cancers and is still alive and running a ten K race, needless too ay my hand went into my pocket as did every person in the room, it makes your own life seem more prescious.
So those wishing too make unpleasant comments, know this, cancer can strike anyone, you die a very unpleasant death or loose body parts fighting it. Judge yeah, less yea be judged.
Good luck claire, you are a trailblazer for the LGBT comunity within racing and broadcasting.
May 29, 2009 at 22:02 #230972Good luck Claire and get well soon.

May 29, 2009 at 22:08 #230973I wont have a bad word said about Claire, i wish her well! I still think she should be on C4!
May 29, 2009 at 22:16 #230976I wish her all the best – as with anyone battling with this terrible disease.
May 29, 2009 at 22:31 #230980I’m so sorry to hear about your sister, Seagull, and how sad for her to lose her son as well. I feel very humble when I hear stories of such bravery.
May 29, 2009 at 22:44 #230984Very sad to hear about this. Along with everyone else, I wish her a speedy recovery, and hope she can stay in good spirits.

Good luck claire, you are a trailblazer for the LGBT comunity within racing and broadcasting.Putting the cancer bit to one side for a minute ( although I don’t think anyone here has made any iffy comments about cancer anyway)……..I think you have missed precisely the point about Claire Balding in that she is absolutely NOT trying to blaze a trail for the ‘LGBT community’ ( unhelpful surely to lump all of these together as if they were all the same, as bigots might have you believe) she is just Claire Balding an individual person not representing ‘a community’ but just doing her job( extremely well IMO) and getting on with her life not making a fuss about anything, not Cancer and certainly not her sexuality.
May 30, 2009 at 11:35 #231044All the Best to CB, and to you Seagull
