Sadly had to be put down after suffering a hind leg injury in the 8.05 at Lingfield.

Races have been stopped in such circumstances previously when the stricken horse or jockey is in a position which may put themselves or others in danger when the runners come around again. I couldn’t comment on exact psotion as camera shots didn’t show anything, but I presume Chief Monolulu was near the winning post.
There was a incident at Kelso last jump season when Cassius collapsed just past the winning post. I did wonder if the race might but stopped, but in the event it continued with no apparent problems past the line.
Ultimately, if safety is a concern then I’ve have no problem with stopping a race and thankfully such requirements are rare.
