    Mohican Heights 16/1

Maiden win is working out well enough with both the second & fifth winning nicely NTO. Quite rare for an Australia colt to be winning well on debut & with Qatar buying this beast they were obviously taken by him also. Bred to be staying well, think he’s the each way value in a race where everyone could be running for second behind the impressive debut winner LYF.

Hard to get away from how easily Lope Y Fernandez won on debut but the forms not working out well as yet 3rd and 4th well beaten since albeit they were a long way behind Lope Y Fernandez anyway, he is very short here off the one start and has to be taken on for me.

Seeing how well Platinum Star ran in the Norfolk Stakes and how easily Pinatubo brushed him aside on debut it’s hard to argue with him not being much shorter in the market. The form from the Woodcote hasn’t worked out so well but he didn’t seem to be in love with the track and still won cosily off a good gallop, Ascot should suit much more. Given he’s by Sharmadal out of a mare that won over 11F at Listed level everything he’s done so far over 6F must have been a bonus for connections and although Godolphin don’t have quite the record of O’Brien in this contest they’ve still had Masar, Toscanini and Ihtimal go close and Tha’ir won in 2012 (beating Lovely Pass into 3rd) for Saeed Bin Suroor. I think the experience and being streetwise from Epsom and the extra run could be key for Pinatubo over Lope Y Fernandez.

Of the others Heaven Forfend probably should have won his maiden as Newbury taking a hefty bump from the horse who dead-heated with him for third. Light Angel who won that didn’t do the form any favours in the Coventry but the 4th horse home Golden Horde did run very well in the Coventry. He’s a half-sibling to Firmament and a full to the nutcase Seven Heavens, he’s seems much calmer for what it’s worth. My concern for him is his draw in Stall 1, you’d imagine Joker On Jack in 15 will be taking them along. On the subject of which does anybody have any idea why he’s running here he didn’t stay 6F at Newbury.

Tin Man, i’d probably argue Plantinum Star being by LDV had conditions to suit the other day? Obviously still a formboost for Pinatubo but perhaps he was likelier to run his race than others with the give in the ground?

One i thought was eye-catching on his debut was Year of the Tiger, the winner runs today so i’ll see how the form shapes up. Ran on nicely. Obviously not first pick for Ballydoyle but might be interesting at a price.

Agree Tin Man on Heaven Forfend and Mohican Heights, but are of interest too, might as well take a bigger priced one and go against fav.

Year of the tiger for me, just watched the race of him and the fav and the form
Of YOTT is working out well enough and he was clearly given a very, very educational ride, he looks way, way overpriced in this, out of a star kodiac mare, by galileo, hard not to like him. Ground drying out should suit him more than the fav

Wasnt nearly as impressed by the favs for
Some reason, albeit he did it well, formline doesnt look upto much, moores picked correctly more times than hes been wrong this week, so its hard to see why it would be any different this time. But jesus, dont think he deserves to be that short!

I am on two in this and they both go beatfirst time out!!

YEAR OF THE TIGER at 20/1 was a real eye catcher and has to improve from that!

HEAVEN FORSEND at 14/1 should probably have won first time out too and even though as aforementioned he has a bad draw think he is value at 14/1!!

    Good Luck Guys :good: :good:

I’ve had some on both the front two here in different bets with different bookies and different offers. Think both are above average.

    Lope Y Fernandez @ 6/4
    Pinatubo @ 7/2

Will have a good look at this one this morning but as a quick view it’s brave to back against the favourite I think here. Recorded an RPR of 93 on debut and was eased down at the finish, that’s pretty special. Plus he’s got a great name :-)

If we are saying the form doesn’t look great of that race that we then question that RPR figure? Was there any timeform analysis on it Jack?

Was looking at Harpocrates, but is drifting which isn’t a great sign, so might just have a little bit EW, seems to be crying out for at least 7F. I can’t see past Lope Y Fernandez, he could win this comfortably. I’m really not impressed with Charlie Applebys season so far. Apart from Blue Point he’s done nothing at a top level, so that puts me off Pinatubo against LYF.

    Lope Y Fernandez 5/4

    Harpocrates 20/1 EW

I agree about the chances of the favourites, but I have went with Dramatic Sands at 25-1 ew. I thought it was an ok debut. I have bet him with 4 places.

Looks a real prospect. I had him in all the competitions in here and a few quid too.
I, along with Hein, typed up a bit about him before he won the Woodcote. I wish I’d
been smart enough to have a punt prior to this for the 2000 Guineas, could have got
him at 40/1 this morning. I’ve just grabbed the 12/1 with Bet365. It’s nice to see
that the next “monster” isn’t necessarily from the O’Brien circus :good:
