…………..they were expecting a big run from Nipper the year he got injured, so it’s good to see him back on track for another go.
Was that the comment at a preview about how they were were gonna take a pull at the top of the hill, then do Kauto for toe?
I nearly died laughing, as I remember.
August 25, 2010 at 21:37 #314654Suppose it was silly of them, with Kauto Star being well nigh unbeatable at Cheltenham……
October 15, 2010 at 20:58 #322606all u jokers trying to find the winner of the gold cup right now

Having watched his dead heat at Carlisle yesterday I thought that Weird Al ran an excellent race and (a big and) if he performs well in The Hennessay he could well be single figures for the Gold Cup by Christmas.
I see many positives:
A very sound jumper, he likes Cheltenham, appears to stay the trip and seems to be progressive.I have already taken the 33’s EW and will be looking to keep nibbling away while the price remains at a generous level.
November 25, 2010 at 19:04 #329877For a horse that is ruled out for the season…Weapons Amnesty is trading at 65 on Betfair.
I would not be surprised with connections if he comes back this season tbh
November 29, 2010 at 03:06 #330362Nothing would suprise in an antepost market.
I’m nibbling away at Pandorama. He’s 50s now. Got an awful time of it in the Hennessy after 11 months off the track hitting the second and being right behind Neptune and Madison when they fell. He must have been thinking "They brought me here for this!?"
December 1, 2010 at 23:48 #330789A famous poker player once said to me ‘Always trust your instincts’. The answer is in front of all of us. Look at the trends, the history and the form.
The 2011 Gold Cup Winner is
DENMAN
And I’m going to back this horse to the hilt, like Workforce like TAPK did.
Good luck fellas.
8/1

December 3, 2010 at 19:35 #331046This year’s Gold Cup is going to be a graet renewal. There’s Kauto Star, Denman and obviously the champion Imperial Commander re-opposing. Then we have Long Run, who is quite obviously a champion in the making but i think its going to be 2012 rather than this time. It’s interesting to see that Denman will not have another run before Cheltenham, and if he runs like he did in the Hennessy then he must go close, with a bit of cut in the ground of course. Good to see he’s getting back to his best. There’s no doubt that Imperial Commander goes well around Cheltenham, after all he is the champion, and has won six times there, and at 9 going on 10 is at the right age to make a successful defence of his crown, however the horse everyone wants to be on is undoubtebley Kauto Star. A year older than the champion, so time isn’t on his side, but he is quite simply the best horse in the field. Yes he wasn’t going well last year when he fell, his jumping wasn’t what it can be, he was sweating up though at the start and wasn’t himself that day. If he turns up in March this time round and performs, he wins the Gold Cup for a third time. Everybody keeps trying to pick holes in his form, but i suppose when your that good your there to be shot at. I for one will be all over Kauto Star should he come out of the King George in good order and stay in good health

Nulty, remember the horse has to have Soft ground, now if by a miracle the weather is bad in March then your horse will be 12/1 and your 50/1 will be a fine bit of foresight and on the other hand if he doesn"t run you still get your money back,i cant fault you there!
December 5, 2010 at 20:19 #331314i do think there will be an irish winner in 2011 and i think that cooldine will do it . i know he was dropped by 1st two last year after 3 out however i cant get out of my head how well how he won the 2009 rsa
maybe ruby will even ride ?

There is no chance, he will step off of Kauto. No chance at all!
December 10, 2010 at 17:39 #331957Took the 40/1 Midnight Chase. Hopefully, he will be given a break and turn up a fresh horse in March. Strictly on form he has a bit to find but he is improving and has plenty of pluses whereas there is a strong likelihood the usual suspects will be deteriorating. As mentioned before Time For Rupert would be interesting if switched from the RSA but leaving aside Imperial Commander (who will probably be a backable price on the day) there isn’t much else to get excited about.
December 18, 2010 at 19:34 #333152Kempes trading at 131/1 on betfair. Absolutely nuts.

The senior cheallengers are so poor at the moment the novice Time For Rupert has more chance of beating Imperial Commander and Kauto Star than any of them do and he won’t run.
2 horse race if Kauto wins the King George with Denman fending off the rest.

I wouldnt be so quick to write off Denman. Paul Nicholls said before the Hennessey he might have to run the Tank every month this season. Straight after the race he changes his mind and says he goes straight to Cheltenham even without his usual prep in the AON. Quite a turn around for such an experienced trainer.
I did think myself if Denman can reproduce that level of form come march, he’ll be very difficult to beat.
After years of not seeing a horse reclaim the Gold Cup, could it be possible we see it twice in 4 years? It’s a funny old world and I wouldnt want to bet against it.
Makes you wonder if infact last years AON chase disaster was enough to stop Denman beating Imperial Commander, after all he didnt lose by that much.
8/1 e/w on Denman looks great value to me, more so than the 4’s you get on Kauto or Imperial to actually win the race.
The other horse that really interests me is Kempes. Huge price at the moment and not really sure why? His first try at 3 miles and he goes and beats China Rock, who himself could turn out to be a very decent yardstick when studying form. Kempes will be better for decent ground and will stay every yard, not short of pace either. While I’m not tempted to remortgae, £2 e/w at the bonkers odds Betfair are throwing away could be worth a punt. And then there’s the MULE….. we all know who I mean!
December 19, 2010 at 11:26 #333214Kempes is a flat bred horse. He’s out of a mare who won one race and that was at 6f. I’d be very sceptical about his chances of staying an extended 3m at a breakneck gallop.
China Rock himself was never really right at any stage last year.
If there’s any horse from that Punchestown race that might go on to bigger things it could be the third horse The Midnight Club who looks made for a Grand National.
