It may be true that GWILSON77 knows nothing about Neptune Collonges, beckster, but is labelling him an ‘idiotic prat’ and suggesting that he ‘get a life’ really necessary?
And may I advise, GWILSON77, that such affirmative remarks are left out of the virtual earshot of people connected directly to the horse (aside from the fact that Neptune Collonges is a fairly reliable jumper of a fence and won’t necessarily be employed as a pacemaker).
February 11, 2009 at 14:11 #209624After last Saturday’s disappointing run from Denman ( I believe it to be so ), as much as it saddens me to say, I simply cannot envisage him repeating last year’s victory – at any price. I still think he won’t run and will be surprised if he does.
Therefore, Neptune Collonges ( at this stage ) is very much the horse on my radar, and should he put up a good performance at the weekend, and the ground is on the soft side, then I will most probably back him on Gold Cup day.
However, if good ground is declared, then I would have to back Kauto Star.
Simple as that.

Beckster,
Thank goodness Neptunes is a gelding!! my comment was actually
complimentary to the horse, in that he set a good pace in last years
Gold Cup, for a circuit anyway, before Denman took over and showed him who was boss. Both times he has fell was against Exotic Dancer a horse
that is well suited to his pacemaking style, before he too shows him who is boss. without dissecting your above "rant" i am interested to know how my comment is "Slanderous"!!February 11, 2009 at 22:39 #209726well i would agree that nipper has a better chance on g/s or softer ground, if you look at the times of the last 2 runnings of the gold cup kauto’s win was alot slower than Denman’s win and yet the ground was alot quicker when kauto won, i don’t think kauto stays the trip in a true run gold cup..
That year the race played right into his hands, but last year he had his finishing speed taken right out of him…..i think you’ll find the fastest finishing horse was infact nipper and as ruby said 1 more stride and nipper would have beaten kauto….
I would wish no harm on any other horse and i certainly wouldnt be saying a horse would tip up… but nipper has made fewer mistakes than some fancied horses in the race FACT!!!!!!
Nipper ran kauto to a nose last year and if you were judging kauto on his haydock race than what would you be saying???? just because he won the king george beating Albertas run by less than a fully fit Denman beat him at the weekend isnt great form!!!!! This years gold cup is very open ,last year there was always going to be one winner he was a machine and lets hope he comes back to that form even if we have to wait till next season for that…….LHFebruary 11, 2009 at 22:54 #209728I think Neptune Collonges would benefit from having one of the very top jockeys on his back. Mick Fitzgerald gave him a great ride last year, always alert to NC’s tendency to nod at the downhill fences and kept pushing him into staying-on at the end.
It looks like Exotic Dancer will run, so AP can’t step in. There is nothing wrong with Christian Williams at all, but I think Robert Thornton would suit Neptune Collonges perfectly.
February 11, 2009 at 23:15 #209732Graham Lee or Timmy Murphy [no chance of the latter I know]….I know I’m biased cos I really love Graham Lee….

No such courtesy was extended to Katchit’s connections, and the toys remained in the pram. What’s different now ?

BECKSTER,
I hope your not being "Slanderous" to my Albertas run with the above comment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!February 12, 2009 at 01:27 #209758gwilson if you are not man enough to notice the difference in my post ie the wording or spelling let alone the LH on the end of it??????????? think you would figure out it was lisa hales!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as i called her around to show her a few silly posts lol, now now gorden dont bother me again!!!
February 12, 2009 at 03:40 #209788Neptune ran a big race in last years GC of course, though had Kauto not bull dozed the last fence he wouldn’t have been with in in a nose of him thats for sure.
The amount of mistakes Kauto made ultimately cost him the distance he lost by. Maybe the strongly run race put him under pressure maybe he had an off day, who knows, but I’d say people are barking up the wrong tree if they don’t think he stays.

your telling me Lisa Hales wrote the above post? Well i can assure you the very same person that wrote the previous post regarding
"slanderous" behaviour wrote the above post not Lisa Hales (unless of course you are Lisa) and how do i know that then cleverdick?February 12, 2009 at 04:00 #209791Becky certainly didn’t write it, there are whole sentences in it and even punctuation (no offence Becks!)
