It was all due to the rain coming Ben. He said as much in the post race interview (pretty sure it was RTV), the more rain that came the more confident they were getting. He started off saying he wasn’t too confident but as the rain came they couldn’t see him beat

Bob Olinger tore a muscle in the Turners, so Mullins’ theory that GDC could even be a 2 miler coz he was on the verge of thrashing a, now we know, injured Bob Olinger may backfire.

But nobody can be sure at what point during the race Bob got injured. It could have been when he was already beaten anyway.

Any attempts to precisely locate when the injury occurred are mere conjecture.

    Only just noticed this thread.

I’ve taken 3/1 Constitution Hill for the Champion Hurdle as he IS the best Supreme winner since Golden Cygnet and WILL join Night Nurse, Monksfield and Persian War as one of the all-time great Champion Hurdlers.

Jonbon for the Arkle seems plausible – he’s a full brother to Douvan, after all.

Galopin Des Champs is absurdly short for next year.

Bob Olinger clearly isn’t the same horse over fences, the other two were running for place money and, in case anyone didn’t notice, Galopin Des Champs made a couple of mistakes and then, err, FELL.

“It could have been when he was already beaten anyway.”

Its possible but I doubt it as trainer felt he didn’t run his race straight after and Rachel said he wasn’t giving her the same feel as before.

Is it to early for me to put Bob Olinger up as my lay for 2023 ….

El Fabiolo for the Arkle at 33-1 is my first bet. I was really impressed with his maiden hurdle win and expect a good run today.

Not for the first time Nevison talking pony on Rtv saying L’homme presse has to have it soft for him to win the GC next year.

Ahoy senor is imperious at Aintree but venetias horse beat him with no excuses at Cheltenham. There’s far more emphasis on jumping in the gold cup and that’s far more l’homme presses bag.

Huge over reaction to the respective prices imo.

Very good shout green, youll have the winner there from this far out, his inexperience cost him and jonbon will never have him behind again.

At this stage, he looks willies arkle horse, i wouldnt be worried about DD or SG, hes a jumper all over

I was happy with taking a touch on 12/1 post race, didnt have my chelt hat on pre-race

    Great shout.

“Jonbon will never have him behind again.”

I hope so as I’ve backed him for the Turners lol. As regards to yesterday, if Jonbon hadn’t run at Cheltenham he’d have won more comfortably. He was very gutsy in getting his head in front after his hard race at Cheltenham. El Fabiolo looks quite nice though for the future.

Backed Ernest Gray for next year’s Supreme and Ballymore, before he romps in later on today.

Fry says he,ll keep might I over hurdles , says he hasn’t done the best at placing him as a novice , I’ve played 33s for the stayers , I really like and he,s been unlucky in the the horses he,s bumped into this year

Backed Three Stripe Life at 14/1 for the Turner with Hills.

I was quite impressed with him at Aintree. Travelled well and never looked like losing.

Elliott confirmed he is going novice chasing and this looks the most likely target for him to me, unlike some of the horses quoted ahead of him.

I like him as well cork

Can see Sir Gerhard being an Arkle horse so he won’t be having to chase him home I don’t reckon

One who I could also see ending up in the turner’s is appreciate it if he stays sound, which is a doubt and means he’s not an ante post play

Agree Appreciate It is a potential danger, FF. However, as you say, he has had what must have been quite a bad setback. I also think Mullins would prefer to tun him in the Arkle.

Mullins seemed to be favouring the Champion Hurdle route for Sir Gerhard. He does not seem to have anything else for the race and Cheveley Park might be up for it, now they have achieved their aim of winning a Gold Cup.

Three Stripe Life looks ideal for the Turners. I doubt they will drop back in distance and he did not look like he was crying out for 3 miles either.

Well, if the ORs of the trio Galopin Des Chanps just absolutely murdered over the last two fences at Fairyhouse are to be believed, you can start to see why he is just 4/1 for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

He’s beaten Master McShee (157) by 18 lengths with Riviere D’Etel (149 and getting 7lb) two and a half lengths further back in third with Blue Sari (153) another nine and a half back in fourth.

You could rate the winner 175 on that if you wanted.

Still wouldn’t be for me at the odds, tbh, but I was more impressed today than I was at Cheltenham as he approached the last.
