I don’t think they took kindly to my 2016 antepost selections. Wtf

The Hill TeamMarch 26, 2016 at 11:05 #1239857You have a good eye you do Darren
I have also backed Alpha des Obeaux RSA, Black Hercules Gold Cup, Yorkhill Arkle but I am backing the ‘banker’ Thistlecrack for 2 races, Gold Cup and the Stayers as I firmly believe they will revert to hurdling and farm the Stayers for a few years! Cannot make my mind up regarding the CH so will wait for a while. Am doing the Alpha des Obeaux/Thistlecrack double split stakes for both races!
March 26, 2016 at 12:10 #1239875A year away, there isn’t a thing I’d back at under 2/1. I wouldn’t even bet that the meeting would start on a Tuesday :)
March 27, 2016 at 18:46 #1240062Agree with Alpha for the RSA. Cracking bet
March 27, 2016 at 19:40 #1240075I have to agree with you Joe.
Personally I think it is verging on insanity to back anything for next years Cheltenham!!
But hey ho what do I know!!
April 21, 2016 at 09:57 #1243066Willie Mullins believes Douvan to be a Gold Cup horse. Will connections really contest the Champion Chase in 2017, followed by the Gold Cup in 2018? With such a large string of talented individuals, they see little disparity between the primary historical events and the recent intermediate additions to the top grade category. As far as Mullins and Ricci are concerned, a Festival Grade One is a Festival Grade One, regardless of tradition.
Vautour – arguably his most talented performer – did not contest an Arkle or RSA, likewise a Champion Chase or Gold Cup during his sophomore campaign.
With Douvan considered a Gold Cup horse, I think there’s every chance they could run in the Ryanair Chase next year with a view to the Gold Cup the following year.
This guy is a machine. All he does is work out and pick winners. Talk about fit. You should see him without his shirt off, serious side of beef.
July 3, 2016 at 11:05 #1254126It’s very early days, butI have Placed My first ANTEPOST LUCKY 15 for Cheltenham 2017 with Sky Bet. I love trying to guess which races the horses are going to run. SKY BET is key because they pay double odds for one winner.
GOLD CUP- DOUVAN 16/1
JLT- YANWORTH 14/1
Mares Novice hurdle- LETS DANCE 7/1
ARKLE- ALTIOR 5/1
July 3, 2016 at 11:22 #1254127Takes a brave man to do a WPM/RR horse at this stage ATP, so best of luck with the bet
July 3, 2016 at 13:30 #1254144Thanks VTC- It is likely Douvan will run in the Champion Chase, however, his price is shocking! Mullins has said this is the best horse he’s ever trained and really wants to win the big one, so at 16/1 I will take a punt.
YANWORTH- I think 14/1 is to big for the JLT. BG gave him a poor ride at Cheltenham and Kings horses weren’t right at the time. I don’t think he is quick enough for the Arkle or CH plus connections will probaly aim Ivanioch G for the CH.
ALTIOR- Might go for the CH but hoping Faugheen or Annie power will put Hendo off. He is class.
August 28, 2016 at 15:29 #1261522My first bet.
BlOW BY BLOW to win any race at 14/1 with sports book.
Watched back all his races and has improved with every run so far.
I really rate death duty who he beat convincingly in his previous bumper and it takes a very good one to out battle him with a solid yardstick in sunni may behind.. Followed up in the punchestown champion bumper with bacardys and very much so finishing similarly to there places at cheltenham.
And when he saw moon racer come to tackle him I was very impressed by the way he went on again.
Expecting big things from BLOW BY BLOW for many seasons to come.August 29, 2016 at 01:06 #1261577Good to see you back Rocky, and best of luck with all your Cheltenham bets this year, though if anything like your performace last year, you won’t need it
August 29, 2016 at 22:39 #1261638I know some think Ante Post betting on Willies horses this far out is ludicrous, but it really isn’t. Sure, horses have to get there in one piece, but WPM horses are not campaigned too heavily and we know a lot about them before we see them this season, so why not take a chance on some double figure prices before prices half / go odds on after one or two runs.
I think they will up Douvan in trip with an eye on the GC. They have a wealth of riches and this is their best horses. They have been saying ‘he could be anything’ for a while now and I think we will see Douvan over 2m5f in Ireland before he contests in the King George. I am of the opinion he will stay all day long and have backed him multiple times for the King George
I think they will give Annie Power the chance to retain CH, which could mean upping Faugheen in trip to the World Hurdle.
I would like to see Vautour down in trip and think they may go for the Champion Chase if Douvan can handle 3 + miles.
One horse that hasn’t had much of a mention and doesn’t seem to get as much attention is Vroum Vroum Mag. For me this is the best ante post bet of Willies. Given their wealth of riches over hurdles and VVM’s proven ability over fences, I think chasing is inevitably on the cards which means we can narrow down potential targets:
Ryanair @ 10’s
Champion Chase @ 16’s
Gold Cup @ 33’sAugust 30, 2016 at 03:04 #1261644Would hate to see Faugheen demoted to the stayers hurdle; up till now he has been almost unbeatable (1 blemish), so hope the injury doesn’t leave a mark. I presume chasing won’t be considered.
Agree Douvan will be Gold Cup bound, tho reserving judgement till we see how strong his novice chasing generation was.
Disagree about Vautour; Punchestown (albeit at the end of a long season) showed chinks over 2 miles, so Ryanair more likely, tho I accept it’s a lesser prizeAugust 31, 2016 at 19:05 #1261750Good luck Charlie with VVM.
I had her in a couple of Ante-Post lines at this time last year, and I’d agree, she doesn’t seem to quite get the same publicity as some of the other WPM/Ricci runners, despite looking very very good indeed. Don’t think you can rule her out of anything, and wouldn’t rule out The Champion Hurdle either, for which she’s best priced 16’s.
A real danger wherever she goes
September 5, 2016 at 19:39 #1262193Yorkhill jlt 6/1
Paddies halved the price for this race and doubled it for the arkle
Following them in, this tactic has been very good to me for finding out targets and we will see how it works out.Annie power champion hurdle 3/1
Faugheen world hurdle 4/1
Vroum vroum mag mares 5/1
Yorkhill jlt 6/1 accaAnnie champion 4/1
Yorkhill jlt 6/1
Faugheen world hurdle 4/1 trebbleAnnie champion 3/1
Vroum vroum mares 5/1
Faugheen world hurdle 4/1 trebbleSeptember 17, 2016 at 11:24 #1263884Moon racer supreme novice
7 years old and always a chance of a setback but at 16/1 with 1 target and excellent bumper form the chance of reward far out weighs the risk Imo.Runs at perth next Thursday where he could possibly meat ballyandy, who will most likely step aside at this stage.
September 17, 2016 at 12:50 #1263902Shame he missed the best part of last season Rocky, but Punchestown showed the ability is still there. Good luck with him this year
