June 8, 2008 at 20:53 #167432Forgive me for being pedantic, but if they are unknown how can anyone know about them?

Funnily enough, as soon as MM went to the front I said to my brother, " He’ll be in next years Triumph Hurdle". Might yet be right.
June 8, 2008 at 22:05 #167445Id keep an eye on any Alan King 3yo on the flat from 1m2f to 1m6f that has no Jacobs as they will be potential Triumph Hurdle horses, I spotted Franchoek last year at Haydock and jokingly said that he would be a Triumph Hurdler.
June 9, 2008 at 06:13 #167461Far too early.
Have one tip though for people seeking accommodation. A new Holiday Inn Express has just opened in town centre. Could be a cheap alternative to the ones that are booked year by year.

Nice one, Centurion!

Very good one Darren – especially the last-named contest – though I would not really want to insult Maidstone Mixture in this way. He is far better-looking !
June 9, 2008 at 11:06 #167501by saying unkown, i mean to the public. Someone might know horses that are going to be aimed at the festival.
Thanks for the people who have said a few horses.
Might be a bit too early, just seeing if anyone knows anything.June 9, 2008 at 11:59 #167511Too early is the overstatement of the centuary, bad enough one hour before the Triumph half of us are still trying to make up our minds which to back.
What we would like to happen long term and what will happen usually trun out to be two different things.
I am already running some races over in my mind. Will Binocular win the Champion Hurdle? or will Crackaway Jack turn out to be as good as several good judges say and become the next Champion Hurdler.
Is Master Minded as good as he looked over 2 miles or was he just made top look that way. Is he good enough to see off Tidal Bay who is simply the better horse in the opinion of many. Will Sizing Europe go fencing or will he stay hurdling?
Will Kauto Star come back to his best or has PN ruined him for good.
Is there a horse alive capable of beating Denman round Cheltenham on soft ground.
I don’t know about others but I have enough worries trying to work that lot out without trying to spot a flat horse who might end up running in the Triumph.
Later in the season a few of the guys will be touting a few likely Cheltenham horses but right now it’s doubtful if next seasons Triumph Hurdle winner will even have been schooled yet.

We have a horse called Black Jacari (out of Black Sam Bellamy) and he is being firmly targeted at the Triumph and will follow the Katchit, Francheok route.
He hasn’t been schooled yet but Alan has no worries about the fact that he’ll jump, stay, and we’ve already seen him handle soft ground and undulation at Goodwood. He would also appear to have a little more speed that Katchit (and thus loads more than Francheok).
Very early days but progressive flat horse with a few races in him this summer before Chepstow or Market Rasen in Autumn – will keep you posted on progress

That looks a familiar route – I await his timber debut with interest!

June 10, 2008 at 09:36 #167682I see Katchit has beaten me to it but Black Jackari at this stage does look the one.

would you be able to get a quote from a bookies about this?

After our last run at Goodwood I asked Ladbrokes for a price – 25-1 was the best they’d offer
