Could almost be the BBC.
One gripe only: THE HIDEOUS, TINNY, DRONEY, OVER-COMPRESSED, WHINING, SHRILL, DIRGE-LIKE MUSIC. GET RID OF IT.
June 20, 2013 at 22:34 #443443You look to be the only person who thinks so.
June 21, 2013 at 00:11 #443454Loving every single minute of it and all 6 races every day of the Meeting… fantastic The men have scrubbed up well and even Mick Fitz looks the part.
The Morning Line every morning and Royal Ascot Highlights at night.
Nobody need miss a minute. Even the adverts which I thought would ruin it are not too long and staged so as not to interfere with the action. 10/10Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 21, 2013 at 07:31 #443462It’s great that they have covered every race live.
From my point of view nice to roll in form work just after 5 and pick up the last three races on Channel4+1, as well as the replays and analysis of the earlier races.
Could do without all that fashion cr*p and particularly that ghastly Brix woman! On the othar hand it does get people through the gate and helps pay for the sport.
Overall decent coverage, and racing oculd do with a few more uplifting days like the Gold Cup day.
And we still await the event of the week, the Queen Alexandra Stakes!

Bit unfair, I think her take on Jack Nicholson’s
The Joker
is outstanding:

But yes, she’s no James Sherwood…

June 21, 2013 at 10:07 #443473I think their coverage has been exceptionally good, it’s been different league to what Channel 4 Racing had become over the last few years.
Praise where it’s due I think the channel has turned it’s pretty dull and feeble coverage around.
Well done and keep up the good work.
June 21, 2013 at 12:42 #443492Clare Balding is brilliant.
Wouldn’t be able to bare the coverage on the BBC if they’d cover Estimate won regarding the queen.
June 21, 2013 at 13:03 #443497I think it’s been ok, there’s the mute button when they talk fashion and Eastbourne on BBC2 for when it’s an ad break. I’m a big Nick Luck fan, Clare is Clare, and I think Graham Cunningham knows which horse is which a lot better than Francome ever did or what race they ran in.
June 21, 2013 at 13:22 #443498I’m also enjoying the coverage, seems to be a lot less adverts. Tanya didn’t look too pleased when Brian Gleeson took over the interview with Mike Dillon there!
June 21, 2013 at 14:03 #443507Channel 4 ran their Pronunciation Test earlier with Mutashaded
Tan just waded in with her own version of Mushtadahaded
The gooseberry in the strawberrys and cream.
June 21, 2013 at 17:16 #443543I’ve really enjoyed the C4 coverage. The butting into conversaions by the presenters seems to have been dropped and a lot more time showing runners in the parade ring devoted. I’m becoming a fan, keep it up C4
June 21, 2013 at 18:44 #443553If only they would drop Mick Fitzgerald it would be very good indeed.
Having set the precedent of showing all 6 races (well done C4), they’ve surely now GOT to do the same at the Cheltenham Festival?
June 21, 2013 at 18:48 #443556The format was fine and I’ve enjoyed the length of the shows, but technically I wondered if they’d been the victims of cable theft.
June 21, 2013 at 18:54 #443559It’s great that they cover all the races, personally though I get a bit bored in between the races.
June 21, 2013 at 19:04 #443560Superb bit of PR showing all 6 races everyday,no complaints there but GC has a bad habit of contradicting himself and Jimbo Mcgrath is still the biggest Wall sitter this side of Humpty Dumpty.Nick Luck really is the jewel in the crown of Anchoring a show, his presenting skills are 2nd to none as is his knowledge of the sport, what Nick does and cleverly lets us know his hands are tied is at least mention such points as Hughseys riding like a prat. Its something some of us picked up on after day 1 but no-one dare say it until an emotional Richard coughs up after the same tactics pay dividends on the super filly ‘Sky Lantern’! Worse ride of the week goes to Richard on
Stirring Ballad
.Hindsight is a wonderful thing and Jim Mcgrath is a master of it,his ‘I am’ tone towards Nick Luck still doesn’t wash but to Nicks credit he doesn’t rise to it.On the whole a pretty good all round production with Tanya,Gleeson and Claire all performing well,Richie Persad can hold his own as can Mick Fitz………..’The Forgotten Voice’!
June 21, 2013 at 21:01 #443583It’s great that they cover all the races, personally though I get a bit bored in between the races.
Yeah. Too much fashion. Would be nice to see more of what happens behind the scenes ( down in the stables etc ) but not another catering review.
June 22, 2013 at 15:15 #443696Think the coverage has benefitted from Fitzy doing what he does best ( or better ) – out and about talking to jockeys and connections. He’s not a studio presenter or analyst.
