Looking for some value esp with Honeysuckle the most likely winner I’ve had a play with Quilixios , triumph winners don’t have the best record but 20s is to big not to play each way
November 11, 2021 at 06:50 #1567089As you say, it’s all about finding one to hit the frame behind Honeysuckle. I’ve gone for Jeff Kidder at 40-1 e/w: spring horse, has course form and will get the end-to-end gallop he needs. Can see him running on up the hill to snatch a place.
November 14, 2021 at 14:29 #1567569The way some HDB horses are running first time out, does anyone think Honeysuckle looks vulnerable in keeping her perfect record against a potentially better rival or two than last year in the Hattons Grace?
November 14, 2021 at 16:45 #1567603I have free bets on
Ferny hollow 13s
Epatante 14sI placed the ferny one just before they announced he was likely going chasing unfortunately
Theres really nothing in this race other than honeysuckle atm
And yes Mike I feel if honeysuckle is going to lose it’ll be in the Hattons grace first time up, Henry always leaves plenty to work on first time up
November 14, 2021 at 20:34 #1567627To be honest, apart from Honeysuckle, it’s looking to be a pretty uninspiring field, again. The 2m division could do with a shake up, but I won’t expect one.
November 28, 2021 at 12:52 #1569583Before the grace I’ve taken some of the 25s about Abracadbras , on his best this could be some value
November 28, 2021 at 15:05 #1569614My favourite horse in training just won again. 13 out of 13.
November 28, 2021 at 15:18 #1569619Hard to see her losing
Iv her in a few doubles from months and months ago, hopefully a few of the other horses get to march with a live chance
November 28, 2021 at 15:33 #1569627Only a fall or being well below her best can cause her to lose. Nothing is going to beat her if she is on song. It is a penalty kick without a goalkeeper in the way.
November 28, 2021 at 15:57 #1569640All things considered, it’s hard to see anything beating her; there is nothing out there looking like it. A shame no flat connections will grow a set and send something half decent hurdling, but those days have sadly gone. Not when there’s decent money on the AW, and/or one of the festivals in the Middle East. When trainers with jumping backgrounds won’t send their flat stayers over hurdles, you know there’s a problem.

That is partly why I have lost a lot of interest in hurdles. It is a thin division now. Assuming nothing goes wrong, the Champion Hurdle is going to be a case of How Far Does Honeysuckle Win By.
November 28, 2021 at 16:29 #1569651“When trainers with jumping backgrounds won’t send their flat stayers over hurdles, you know there’s a problem.”
A thinly-veiled attack at Alan King, no doubt. The decision not to go hurdling is down to Trueshan’s owners, not the trainer.
November 28, 2021 at 17:28 #1569665It’s not an attack, just a statement; it’s understandable I suppose but I just find it a lack of ambition.
As a follower of cycling, and motorsport, I enjoy seeing people switching disciplines – I want to see similar in horse racing, but it’s no longer the fashion.November 28, 2021 at 18:31 #1569673I’d read that flat stayers tend to be too slow to be Champion Hurdle contenders; is this true?
November 28, 2021 at 18:45 #1569694Generally yes
They go faster in flat 2 mile races so you need to be a stayer generally
Over jumps the tempo is slower and you need a turn of foot
Youd probably need a 1m2f-1m4f horse
This is very generally speaking
November 28, 2021 at 18:46 #1569696Trueshan would definitely be too slow, hed be a stayers hurdle horse
November 28, 2021 at 18:51 #1569697Honeysuckle absolutely love her, hope she can do it again. She’s alittle star
