It’s strange he,s gone under the radar a bit but he,s done everything asked of him over a fence , can he win a champion ….. I’m not convinced
December 3, 2022 at 16:40 #1625594Only and its a big only, only Energumene that can beat him

December 3, 2022 at 16:44 #1625595It’s early days yet
December 3, 2022 at 18:28 #1625618Should see energumene next Sunday at cork
Hopefully he lays a marker down
December 3, 2022 at 18:52 #1625630I’d have Edwardstone as favourite tbh.

If Shishkin had given a comfortable nine-length drubbing to a match-fit Greaneteen today, would he still be 4-1 for the Champion Chase?
Doubt it.
December 3, 2022 at 19:05 #1625637I don’t lay as it involves having horses running for me I don’t think can beat him.
I’d rather back something I think could beat him and I’ve got 16/1 Edwardstone and am happy with that.
But if I was laying him, I’d say 7/4 is the right price but I wouldn’t even have to lay that as there’s currently £161 asking to back him at 2.72 at Betfair Exchange.

His QMCC Victory sort of fell into his hands with Chacun Pour Soi and Shishkin both failing to complete the course. The runner up Funambule Sivola was about 8 lengths behind that day, knowhere to be seen today. The going was woeful and I think Energumene does love the winter conditions. Edwardstone will come into it more if the going is fair all round.

Wot Gladders said – no one ever needs to ask where Gladders is “really from” as it’s obvious it’s Oxford or Cambridge as he’s clearly Professor Of Logical Profitable Betting at one or the other’s university.

December 3, 2022 at 19:49 #1625650Will edwardstone go to Cheltenham …. Surely he won’t run on goodish ground ….
December 3, 2022 at 19:53 #1625653He’d run on a Train track at the festival
Alan King is on standby to ride him
choo choo ..!!
all aboard the Edwardstone expressBlackbeard to conquer the World
December 3, 2022 at 20:32 #1625668I reckon he might derail when got by an Irish express ..
December 3, 2022 at 21:53 #1625681Very pleased with Edwardstone today. Maybe that speculative bet I had on him for this race is a bit better than that now!
I see no reason why any of the beaten horses should turn around the form. Energumene still deserves to be favourite but you should never be frightened of one horse!

And if Edwardstone had been withdrawn again yesterday would Greaneteen be 25s this morning?
I like Edwardstone an awful lot and that was superb yesterday. On the evidence we have I think Ian is right – he ought to be fav for March. The only caveat is that he’d been prepped twice already and withdrawn – he might well suffer the old bounce factor next time and drift, at which point I’d back him.
December 5, 2022 at 11:49 #1625931Ante-post ENERGUMENE 3/1. Honestly can’t see past the obvious in this.
